As an RV'r for more than 50 years I have had my share of experiences with these alarms. Here is how you can get up to twice the life span out of these. I had the last one go 13 years, because when I installed it, I hooked it up to a simple toggle switch in the wall just above the unit. Just run the RED wire that powers it through a toggle switch. When our RV is not in use, or stored for the winter months, I simply turn the switch off. That way there is no power going to it, which means the 5 year life clock is on hold until I power it back up. These units do not go bad when there is no power going to them. It's the 12 volts continually going to them than kills them after 5 years. When the RV is not in use, TURN OFF THE ALARM.

I have an RV, and these go out every 5-6 years. These let you know if you have a propane leak etc...If you don't have one of these, you could die from asfixiaton or blow up your RV...either way, your not going to be around to ENJOY sd RV....or anything else for that matter! Get this one...quality and easy to install!

Easy to install and worked well for about three months in a full timer's RV. After about the three month mark, it started chirping the "Replace Me, I'm Expired" alarm.

The paper work that comes with the unit states that this and other products of nature have an approximately 5 year life. And when it does go extinct, the sound is attention getting. Recommend changing and keeping this product up to DATE!

Pretty expensive item that is supposed to be replaced every 60 months. I received this item that is already stamped one year old.

Production date was two years and two months old, on a unit which is designed to last 5 years. That means this unit actually costs more than $17.20 per year, which equates to $85.98 for a 5 year unit...ridiculous.

Ordered the product and received promptly. When I installed, the product was malfunctioning and after contacting the manufacturer I returned the defective product for another. The second product arrived quickly and worked great. The price was cheaper than local store.

I did some research on this device. They need to be replaced every 5 years as they loose their effectiveness over that time period. I wrote the new replacement date on the new unit.

Just what we need when we purchased a new to is travel trailer. The old detector just kept having an alarm go off.
