How wide is the tape? I need a right to left

I apologize for my sled being on the ground. Going through constant reprganization.

Are the plastic inserts available by themselves?

The plastic tape is available by itself.

Will this work with a rockler double t-track fence cap ?

Yes, it works with Rockler double t track.

Can I combine two of these for an 8 foot measuring system?

I wouldn't see why not. You would need to make sure that you place them as tightly as possible end to end so as to keep your measurements accurate.
