Simple Designs LT2009-ORG Mini Bedside Small Oval Egg Ceramic Table Lamp, Orange

This is a beautiful little lamp and potentially very serviceable for someone. The switch is describe as rotary in the description, and I assumed this meant the twisty knob on the socket. It is not--it is an inline switch which in fairness does twist. This won't work for me as I need something I can easily find and quickly turn on in the dark, in time to see the caller ID on my phone. This would involve too much fumbling. When it arrived the inner product box showed crush damage. Unfortunately, the shade had been crushed inside as well. It should never have been sent out with obvious damage to the box, without inspection, but that would slow things down at the warehouse, wouldn't it (note: the outer box was not damaged so it was shipped that way). I will return it, but it is a shame as it is such a beautiful tiny lamp for next to my bedroom phone. Update: We initiated an exchange for this and got the new lamp in 2 days. There was a little damage to the box but on the base end not the shade end. The shade was fine. We like it so much we decided to use it in another location where finding the switch quickly in the dark is not a issue. So we are completely happy with it now. Doesn't seem to be a problem of the shade getting too hot as one reviewer mentioned. Maybe they were using a bulb with too many watts. Works fine with the recommended 40 watt bulb. You can always go to LED for less heat or more light.

This little lamp is such a cute room accessory. The colors offer bright options. Bear in mind that the lamp is little! It's made for a small night stand or table. It would be sweet on a dresser or in a nursery or young child's room. Definitely versatile! At 40 watts, it's definitely brighter than a nightlight, but it doesn't fill a room with bright light; the light is soft. I purchased an orange one for a small night stand and have purchased a blue one for my dresser. The 2 together will light up my bedroom well - one alone will keep it soft. The only disadvantage to this cute little lamp is that it is lightweight, so falls over easily.

I need to return this item & don’t want another 1 shipped back to me, the lamp is extremely small compared to what is shown on line. I don’t like the color & wasn’t able to have the return bar scan . Lamp is NOT as pretty as photo shows, Color of shade is black - NOT indigo - and light does NOT shine through. I poked holes in mine to make a star-light effect, very pretty! The base color is more of a bland plastic-looking grayish-blue (although it is ceramic). It's definitely better than a nightlight. It will only take the small nightlight bulbs but they come in 15w, not just 4w, so it's perfect for me. I had purchased 40w candleabra bulbs for it but they are super-bright and too tall. Almost gave this 3 stars but I'm making it work and it's very solid, well-made lamp.

I realize it is my fault for not reading the product specifications to know the size of these lamps. However, I figured I'd share how small they are in case anyone else is deceived by the photo and forgot to check the description. They're very very small, they look like children's lamps. They have a cheap feel to them, super cheap plastic, not nice quality lamp. That's why I'm only leaving 3 stars (& not because of the size, which again was my fault for not checking). They work, though.

Just a perfect lamp for a small bedside table. This lamp is a nice neutral, 'sage' type color, it sits true and straight, does not seem cheap or inferior in any way, and best of all, (IMHO) it has a little vintage-'60s look about it. Can't go wrong with the price, either. I like the design because it's low, and stable, and would not be as easy to topple over as other lamps are prone to do. Would definitely buy it again :) Also, those larger bulbs on the old-fashioned Christmas lights fit perfectly in this lamp if you like a little color/ambiance in the room. I use a simple 4 watt bulb, and it's cozy as heck :)

I bought three of these little lights in 2015 for rarely used guest rooms in our house. They are tiny, which is just what I wanted, fit perfectly in the spots where I needed a small lamp, and are very classic looking. However, that's where the compliments end. The shade is held in place by the bulb - you put the shade on, then screw in the bulb. They take special small bulbs with a small base like flame chandelier bulbs, but shorter and round, which I ordered when I bought the lamps as someone else mentioned. These bulbs are not very sturdy and the shade fits so loosely that with any contact at all, it tips off its base and hits the bulb. This has caused the bulb to break off from its base so the light doesn't work and is somewhat hazardous as well. Over the 3 years I had these lamps, all 3 of them have had this issue at least once and they in rooms that only get used 3-4 times each year. I have now shifted to regular sturdy flame-shaped bulbs which stick out of the top of the shade a little but seem more able to withstand bumps from the shade. I am considering completely replacing them, this is too much effort and the bulbs are not cheap! Choose wisely.
