Magic The Gathering: Heroes vs. Monsters Duel Deck (2 Limited Edition Theme Decks)

Purchased as a gift for my younger brother. But I'm an MTG expert (played competitively for six years), and of all the affordable Duel Decks I looked for, this was probably the best ratio of awesome-to-money. Some really outstanding rares, and cool monsters for the inner/outer child in all of us. And from what my brother has told me, the decks are pretty well-balanced out of the box. TL;DR: Buy this over other duel decks if you're certain that you want a duel deck.

i bought this duel deck so my buddy and i could learn how to play magic. It was very fun and now we are hooked. exactly what i thought it was going to be! we have dueled many times and i would say the decks are pretty even. very fun if you like magic but seems complicated for starters.

These decks bring some pretty great cards and you really can't beat them at the price. You're getting 2 decks for the price of one and the cards included are awesome. Really great for beginners who are just getting into magic not so much for more experienced players though you can definitely have some fun with these and maybe add some new cards to your deck.

I love all the Duel Deck sets, and I like these 2 decks. But, where some Duel Decks can hold there own vs some of my friends decks, I don't think these will do as well. Me and my girlfriend got these to play, and they are perfect complements to each other. Who doesn't like those ancient greek/roman myths and legends come to the field to do battle? The Sun Titan is an amazing card, and the World Eater can decimate your opponent. If you have a friend who likes to play, this set is highly recommended.

Good solid deck. The heroes are a little more powerful, but it's hard to get a perfect balance sometimes. If the monsters had two more low-cost flying creatures, it'd be completely balanced - but as it stands, if the heroes gets out an early flyer, it's almost Game Over.

I've taught my wife how to play MTG with this theme deck. They are quite fun to play and have a polukranos hydra that many players use in standard decks for green right now. That card alone usually runs around $10.

The product came in great shape. The decks had awesome flavor of great heroes and terrible monsters (terrible in a good way). The white spot removal is worth the package alone, the previews from Theros were awesome, and the foil version of Sun Titan upgraded my cube. All and all excellent duel deck!

Xmas gift

Great product, easy to learn, and provides a lot of fun. I played when I was younger, and bought this on a whim to see if I'd still enjoy playing it. OH BOY DID I. I've now got quite the collection of cards, and play with a group of people every Friday. My wife and I play together in the evening. I was dubious if she'd like it, as she usually scoffs at all of my nerdy hobbies, but she REALLY enjoys this game.

The cards, the pack, the concept, they all seem great. The duelling decks seem to be a very good way to start playing MTG with a curious friend or family members. You know in before hand that the decks are likely to be balanced and well built so that will also help you later on in your learning curve and deck building capabilities when you decide to venture yourself a bit further into Magic. Just the excitement of opening the pack and reading the cards makes it well worth it.
