Works wonders!!
As another reviewer had mentioned, I also read a review of the benefits of MCTs. My purpose in getting it was for my 93 year old mother who has dementia. Although we had been making progress with her using other supplements, all of this came to a screeching halt when she got shingles on one side of her face and in her eye, and then got a super bug UTI from the hospital she was admitted into. In the 6-8 weeks that we battled her illnesses, she became incontinent, slept almost all the time, became unable to walk, and couldn't eat solid foods. All of her foods had to be liquefied so she could swallow them. Getting her to swallow any supplements was completely impossible. After almost 8 weeks of little improvement, I read the article about the benefits of MCTs. I had coconut oil on hand. So I ordered this MCT oil, and the next morning, my husband added a tablespoon of coconut oil to her liquid oatmeal. Surprisingly, I received my order for the MCT oil that day. So I added a tablespoon to her fruit and veggie smoothie and to her "soup" in the evening. The next morning she was more alert and awake for a longer period. Again, MCT oil was added to her liquid meal at 3 different times. By the end of the day, she was walking more on her own, watching TV, and went to the bathroom without us asking her if she had to go. Tonight, the second day, she was trying to talk again, and was laughing for the first time in 8 weeks. So, is it co-incidence that this happened after less than 48 hours after taking the MCT oil and the coconut oil? With all that we have gone through with her, I don't think so. As with most supplements, you will not feel a difference unless you have a "real" problem that the supplement happens to help. In my mother's case, I believe that the MCTs in the MCT oil and coconut oil have made an almost miraculous different in her. I also tried a tablespoon of this MCT oil in my fruit and veggie drink and noticed increased energy the same day. I truly believe this supplement is beneficial for extra energy, for dementia, and it is also supposed to help with weigh loss (can't vouch for this). I would highly recommend this product for the quality and for the low price for a quart of it. UPDATE: I thought I might also add that I have used this oil in bread recipes with great success, and also for salad dressings. I usually get the 4-pack offered on Amazon by XSNonline to save money.

Cure For Alzheimers
A cure for Alzheimer's? Not exactly but it does provide amazing results. We discovered the use of coconut oil and MCT oil on a website: [...] which tells the story of a doctor whose husband has Alzheimers. She had remarkable results with giving him this oil three times a day. So, we tried it too along with coconut pills and coconut spread. We also are seeing remarkable improvement's in my mother's dementia. It may not work for everyone, but it's worth checking out. There are virtually no side effects other than diarrhea if you take too much too soon. It's pretty much tasteless and can be added to food or beverages. Gradually adding it to the diet is recommended. How it works in a nutshell is that it provides the brain with ketones/triglicerides that the body is no longer producing enough of and sends it directly to the brain, bypassing the liver. It is the adding of these ketones that feed the brain what it is lacking. The side effects of these ketones are less confusion and more memory retention, and patients have remarked that after taking this it is like "turning the light on" in the brain. You can see minimal results after two hours of the first dose. And improvements continue the longer a person takes it in gradually increased doses. You will be completely convinced of its effect if you use it for a month then take it away for a week. Of course, you may have to start all over in smaller doses, but if it is working, you will definitely know. I've personally started adding to my coffee each morning (I'm 42 years old and a diabetic and new studies link Alzheimer's and diabetes) Baby formulas have MCT forms added because it helps the brain develop and pre-mature babies have been getting it in one form or another since the 60's because of it's effect on the developing brain. Go to that website, read the research. Check it out for yourself. If it works for you, please spread the good news.

The best deal I have found on MCT oil
This is a great price on pure MCT oil and I've used several NOW products and have always been satisfied with the quality. I use it as part of my diet for when I am trying to reduce my body fat percentage and I do think that, with the proper diet, it is a benefit, especially during fasting. I either take a tablespoon of it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning or blend it in with my coffee to make Bullet Proof Coffee. If I am intermittent fasting, it helps stave off hunger long enough for me to make it until early afternoon. It is a great supplement to a low carb, Keto, or Paleo diet. It is odorless and tasteless and I know that it can be used in cooking and making salad dressings but I have not used it for that. Now, the reason that I did not give it 5 stars is because it does cause me some gastric distress in the form of minor cramping, nausea, and it can also really clear the pipes; the latter can be a good thing but not always. This is not directed at the brand of NOW product, but is a side effect of MCT's in general. I have had the same issues with experimenting with pure coconut oil which is high in MCT's. I highly recommend starting with just a teaspoon or so and letting it sit for a little while to see how your system handles it. My system has gotten use to it to some degree but the side effects are still pronounced enough that I can only take it on an empty stomach a few days in a row before I need a break.

definitely improved my energy level
I first ordered this about 6 months ago to make Dave Asprey's Bulletproof coffee (which also calls for grass-fed butter which can be very hard to find, but my local Trader Joe's carries Kerrygold grass-fed butter). I first made it with 2 TBS of MCT oil and quickly discovered that was too much for me at 145 lbs (I went for a walk right after and had to make like the bear...), so I cut back to 1 TBS which I handled just fine. I heard Dave Asprey on a podcast recommend starting with just 1 tsp to see how well you tolerate it, and to work your way up from there so your body can adjust. Here are the results after 6 months of daily Bulletproof coffee made with 1 TBS MCT oil and 1 TBS grass-fed butter: 1. I have lost 8 pounds EFFORTLESSLY. I did not reduce my calorie intake, at least not intentionally 2. I have a much more steady flow of energy. Rather than the morning caffeine high and mid-day crash and more coffee and more crashing, etc, I now just drink one big mug of bulletproof in the AM and that's it for the day. Again, this took no effort - I just found I no longer wanted or needed any more coffee for the day. 3. I feel great and since I am 57 years old and recently started running, that's noteworthy. I started because I read in Gretchen Reynold's "The First 20 Minutes" book on exercise that the knees of older adults who run are actually healthier that non-runner's knee's. I can now run 3 miles in under 30 minutes which I have been told is pretty spectacular for an old broad. Don't know if it's the MCT oil, but I'm not about to stop drinking my bulletproof to find out. And everything is beautiful and NOTHING HURTS, to quote Kurt Vonnegut. 4. My lower digestive track is healthier - this stuff makes me as regular as clockwork. I never really had any problems in that arena, but I'm high-performing now. (I bet you folks just love reading about reviewers' bathroom habits :) Oh and BTW - bulletproof coffee is delicious!

lots of great information! Instead of coffee I added the oil ...
I bought this oil here on Amazon about two weeks ago to make "bulletproof coffee" but had mixed results. After turning 40, I started gaining a few pounds each year and after 30 extra pounds I feel its time to do something about it. I also have hypothyroidism and developed adrenal fatigue last year which made it almost impossible to get out of bed. I figured if I got my energy back and stopped feeling so tired and sleepy all the time, I would be motivated to start working out again etc. The coffee worked alright but no long term steady energy throughout the day. Researching some more I came across a book called It's All About Energy; The Metabolic Makeover and it mentioned other ways I could use this oil, why it was important to exercise after taking the oil in the morning, and the sound medical research behind the benefits. I read the book in two days and made notes...lots of great information! Instead of coffee I added the oil to fresh made veggie juice (beets, celery, apples, carrots, kiwi, kale) and mixed it with my $2 Ikea hand mixer. The key for me was to exercise after drinking it...while I usually feel more tired and sleepy after I try to exercise, this morning I felt amazing!!! My mood was better than usual, I had that "pep" I used to have that got me to get things done during the day...it is almost 3pm and I still feel great. No jitters, just good consistent energy. I should also point out that I from time to time I take 1000mg of Tyrosene with a glass of water on an empty stomach and a good vitamin B complex with it. (I took this on empty stomach first thing in the morning and waited 45 minutes before I drinking veggie juice with the CMT). I gave it five stars because of the sound medical research of all the benefits, not just for weight loss and because I know that today's great burst of energy happened mainly because of the MCT/veggie juice combo. I have taken tyrosine before without it and I don't get energy from it, maybe its the combination of the nutrients in the veggie juice, the MCT oil, B12 complex and tyrosine. I'll report how I feel and if I have lost any weight in a couple of weeks.

Great new weight loss product
For any of you wondering what this product is this is it. I'm no scientist so here's what I can tell you from experience, 1) Best quality and quantity for the price 2) the body uses medium chain tryglycerides as fuel, this is healthy "essential fats", meaning not only can your body not break this down and store it as fat, your body recognizes it as carbohydrates and burns it as fuel. Take a cap of it and see the jolt of energy you get, it's like putting sugar underneath your tongue. ****Warning, make sure you put a couple of capfuls into your shake or drink to dilute it and if you want to take it straight, start very very small and work your way up. The product works great but if you were to take too much on its own you can have extreme digestive issues. I made the mistake of drinking a half glass on an emptier stomach and I had gastro problems for two days, so please listen and take it sparingly.

Extreme Sickness
Can I give this NO stars? Not only does it not provide me with increased energy, alertness, nor weight loss, it just flat out makes me sick. I tried to ease into it. I started with a teaspoon & slowly increased to a max or 1 tablespoon like other reviewers said, but nothing ever worked. Each time I took it, I IMMEDIATELY felt light headed, weak, had horrible gas pains unlike I've ever felt before, vomiting, nausea, & diarrhea. It felt like the flu every time I tried to take it. I tried it with food, I tried it in coffee, (which by the way is completely disgusting, because it doesn't mix & you're left with this oily top layer to drink from), I tried it at different times in the day, but nothing worked. I'm writing this review because I tried it again not even a half hour ago, & the cramping & gas pains immediately hit me. Except this time, it escalated to vomiting. It feels like full-fledged food poisoning. This will definitely be the last time I try this, because I'm still not feeling better. As a note, I don't have a sensitive stomach. I've also taken coconut oil many times before with no side effects. I don't know if my body is reacting differently to this type of oil, or if it's a spoiled/rancid bottle that I got. Either way, I'm going to try to contact their Customer Service to see if I can get a refund. It was so much money to spend just to get sick!
