Fine to provide light shade
This is a bit less sturdy than I was hoping for, but has grommets and carabiner to fasten it where needed. I use this to cover our dog's outdoor playpen and it works well to provide light shade and allow a breeze through.

UV-filtering & Temperature-reducing For Sure
As some reviewers have said, the fabric is a little "light" or "fragile". I agree, but that also makes for easier handling (especially important during installation if on a ladder), and it allows gusts of wind to pass through without turning the canopy into a sail. Because the canopy fabric is a little "fragile" you shouldn't let it rest against any hard or sharp edges (metal, wood, plastic). Soften or round any hard or rough edges the canopy might come in contact with, and consider placing a soft, buffer material between any hard edge and the canopy fabric itself. The "shadow" that is cast by the canopy definitely reduces the temperature. When in the shadow it feels like a cloudy day. The plants get more than enough UV rays under the canopy (they only need ~10% of the UV rays generated by the sun, and this canopy filters ~60-75%). All in all I'm very pleased with this canopy, and if you treat it with care, I think you too will like it.

Great to protect our chicken from direct sunlight and hawks
This isn't proven to protect from aerial predators - your mileage may vary - but I can see the hawks weighing their options when our girls are out in the play yard covered by this cloth. I use it to protect them from intense summer sun and for aerial predator protection even into the fall. So far. . . it has worked. Love the size, that the grommets are more or less placed at even regular intervals. This really does cut the intensity of the sun - allows water to pass through as does wind. These things are great! So many uses. You just can't go wrong!

Good buy
Durable. I left one out in the northern Midwest winter and it is still in great condition. My laziness tested the value, and it proved to be sturdy. Shades the percentage advertised and I used it for orchids and bonsai, as well as for shading myself as I worked. Lightweight and easy to manipulate and manage. Very stretchy and strong.

Get a better one
If you need it, it's ok. But the fabric started to rip and it's cheaply made. When it's not usable I'll go to the big bix store and get one there with better quality

Saved our Japanese Maple
We had a very rare streak of hot and dry weather in N Virginia in June/July and our Japanese Maple was dying. The sheer hear and sun stress was killing it even though we diligently watered it. When the leaves turned brown and began to fall off I ordered the sun screen. Not only did the loss of leaves stop, but new leaves began to grow. 2 weeks after we installed the sun shade the temperatures moderated and clear skies became partly cloudy and we could remove the sun screen. Now the Japanese Maple has recovered completely and has a nice canopy of new leaves. We would have lost it for sure without the Sunscreen. This product worked GREAT!!!
