Every thing you need to start painting... Value for money

Lovely range of colours. Consistency is thick and easy to work with and easy to thin if necessary. They give really good coverage, a little goes a long way. I love that the gold and silver colours are actually metallic, they dry a little slower that the other colours so be careful about smudging them. Will be buying the set again when needed for sure.

This is my first paint purchase on Amazon and it is a gift, and I was a little nervous about the quality. When my girlfriend finally got a chance to try them out, she was highly impressed! She said the texture was perfect and loaded well on her brushes, and application was smooth as silk. I had the chance to see some of her new pieces, and I was pleased with the colors. Very rich and vibrant, and the color remained consistent after drying. The only thing that caught me off-guard was the size of the tubes. They were smaller than I imagined, but they were accurately described on the product page, so no loss of stars for that. My girlfriend assured me the amount of paint was adequate for a few paintings, and after considering the sheer amount of variety, it really is a good deal. She seems very happy at the opportunity to try a lot of colors she hasn't used before, and she can purchase bigger tubes of the colors she wants more of. Overall a very good purchase, and great for beginners as well as serious artists!

For the beginner, or for the person just starting off in oil painting, you should find most of the colors you will need at the beginning. You will also find that the paints are nice and creamy, that they cover the canvas well, and are a joy to use and experiment with. The set does NOT include Alarizin Crimson, so if you are like me and doing intricate portrait work, you will need to purchase a tube separately. Please bear in mind that this set is for the beginner artist, or to supplement an artist's current collection of paints, and that these tubes are somewhat small. As you learn more about painting, you will want to purchase all your tubes of oil paints in larger-size tubes, and you will learn that you need to buy all your shades of WHITE in one-pound sizes simply because you will find that you use white more than other shades. For the price, it is great for yourself, or would make a nice stocking stuffer for that artist you know.

I am very satisfied with this set of MyArtscape oil paint set. I am not so great with mixing colors therefore I went with more paint colors as opposed to mixing them myself. I especially like the way that they have placed the colors in a natural progresion. Colors to me are a great mystery but with this many I should be able to get the exact color I desire.
