Clearly better than Home Depot timer switch
Iโve used a few Home Depot sourced timer switches which die in a year or two, are difficult to program, and show the display. With the exception of not having a year of service yet, the TouchSmart is better in every way. Clean look, easy to program, easy to install. Weโll see about longevity.

Helpful Video
I give this timer 5 stars. The directions were a bit overwhelming at first but made sense after taking my time and thoroughly reading all of it before getting started. I think of myself as an electronics-challenged person so detailed instructions are a necessity, and these didnโt disappoint. The accompanying video and explanation was really helpful, with access via a QR code on the printed directions. The QR code didnโt work on my iPad or iPhone but it did download on Android just fine, and eventually on Apple following a Google search of the product name and model number. In the end, it works perfectly and Iโm very satisfied.

Good switch thatโs easy to program
If youโd like your exterior garage or porch lights to come on at sunset and turn off at midnight, this is the switch you want. Easy to install, easy to set up. Iโve had similar switches from other manufacturers in my other house so Iโm familiar with them. This one is much easier to setup. Has a battery backup so that itโll survive short power outages. Comes with an almond colored plate in case youโre going with that color. This is NOT a WiFi connected switch. Everything smart doesnโt have to be connected.

So much better than the light-sensitive bulbs.
I really like this switch - it makes things so much easier with my front porch. My porch is shaded where light-sensitive lightbulbs are always on, so I was looking for an alternative to help prevent me coming home to darkness that didn't leave a light on constantly. I also have my bedroom window on the same side of the house as my front porch and I want to be able to turn off the light when I want to sleep. This switch allows me to do both of these things. I love that I can still turn on the light manually from the wall switch for days that are cloudy or stormy or whatever and that the timer makes sure I can see to unlock the door at night. The other timer I tried only allowed for setting a schedule with no ability to manually override for temporary situations. I enjoy being able to adjust things to fit whatever life is throwing at me in the moment without losing my preferred schedule for my normal activities. It wasn't the easiest thing to install (luckily, I know an electrician who was able to come lend a hand) and learning to program the switch took some trial and error - but at the end of the day, it was worth it. I do wish the type was a bit bigger as it can be hard to read even in good light and the blue-light display is not the easiest on the eyes. I had to knock off a start for these reasons. I would absolutely get this again. It has made such a difference for me.

myTouchSmart One in-Wall Digital Timer
I have a pole light at the end of my walkway, and the old timer went, so I searched the internet for an easy to install digital timer to replace the old one. The result was a myTouchSmart One in-Wall Digital Timer. After taking off the wall plate and old timer, I discovered that my current setup was a plastic wall box with no visible ground. I thought, oh my, I am going to have to return it to Kohl's. Before I did, I contacted a family electrician who said that I could probably still install it without a ground. Well, that was all I needed. I proceeded to hookup the new timer, but after turning the electricity on, I did not see any power going to the timer. So, I checked the myTouchSmart website for suggestions. One user said that all he did was to switch the lead and the load wires, and his timer started working. After switching wires, I had power to my timer. But when I looked outside the pole light was still off. Having been a trouble shooter in my working career, I thought the simplest thing to try was to replace the light bulb. Sure enough, the light came on. Programming is actually pretty simple if you follow the directions, or better yet, go to YouTube for a video. The timer came in white with an ivory/almond replacement door, which I used. Also, don't forget to order a wall plate to match the color your wife wants. Finally, if you push the door, you are able to manually turn the light on or off, regardless of your chosen setting.

Reliable and convenient
Bought this for our porch lights. I have it set for dusk to dawn and it has been very reliable so far! I installed it about 3 months ago.

Crazy easy to program if you want the common use case
I got this to turn our porch light on at dusk and off at dawn. A previous in-wall timer with sunrise/sunset tracking failed after several years. It was a bit of a pain to program... the rare times I wanted to reprogram it, I had to find the instructions. This switch is entirely different: once you set the current date and time and latitude zone, setting it up to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise is as simple as pressing a couple of buttons to tell it to do exactly that. Even setting the date/time is relatively logical and works as you'd probably expect if you've done similar things before. I haven't had it installed for very long, and I haven't paid close attention around sunrise/sunset so I can't say how well it tracks to the current sunrise/sunset. But there are options to add an offset to turn it on/off a little before/after so I expect that even if it's not getting it quite perfect, I can use that to adjust it. Wiring is a little different than on other switches and outlets that I've installed. It has holes that at first glance appear to be "back-stab" holes where you just push the wire in. I don't particularly like those because they're often hard to release so I tried to instead put the wire under the screw only to find that I couldn't get clearance. It turns out that the wire holes are tightened down not by an internal spring, but rather with the screw! So it's the best of both worlds: the easy wiring of just inserting the wire into the hole, then the security and easy of release afforded by the screw.

Almost good, except one problem.
One problem was that one of the screws was hard to unscrew and put the white wire in it. It even wouldnโt let the white wire stay and have the screw hold it in. It was easy to install and easy to use except for the screw not cooperating. Now I cannot use it at all, even though I was following the instructions. This is quite unfortunate.

Useful Switch/Timer
Easy to install and does the job required. If you need a timer for outdoor lights then this is for you.

Hard to install
It is a good product so far, but the instruction is very fine print to read and even download from web site ( search it) and zoom in , the resolution is too low for fine prints that you can not read it. The installation of two-poles is a little bit confusing with diagrams. Please provide a color PDF that shows the wires color rather than numbering them and those numbers are not readable even on pdf. Add the website for maunals rather than those fine print papers.
