It is the best product I have used for this! It only takes a 3 to 4 drops to mix with my OIL based paints. Then poured into the cup on the airbrush gun! You could put it in the airbrush cup FIRST then add your paint, but I like to mix it into a small cup with the OIL or solvent based paint! The spray is very smooth and cleaning the airbrush is actually EASIER when I have added this before spraying!! Great product! Works great with solvent or oil based paint!!
I have only used this with solvent/oil based paint through my airbrush! It is the best product I have used for this! It only takes a 3 to 4 drops to mix with my OIL based paints. Hands down the best airbrush primer I have ever used.
When used with the Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black it is hands down the best airbrush primer I have ever used. Went on super smooth and dries super fast. Make sure to wear PPE as it does have a smell.

Reliable, slow-evaporating lacquer thinner perfect for Mr Color Lacquers and Tamiya Acrylics
For Airbrush use only. Mr Color Leveling Thinner is meant for thinning Mr Color Lacquer paints, but it also thins Tamiya Acrylics and Lacquer surface primers quite effectively. Its slow flash time allows the paint to smooth out before it fully hardens, and additional Mr Leveling Thinner can be carpet bombed onto the underlying paint to re-liquify it and level it further. Really intended for Gloss finishes and clear coats. The Thinner comes in a large bottle because Mr Color paints are thick and need to be thinned a lot and it takes time to build up the requisite amount of opacity and coverage. On the plus side, the drying time of the paint is an order of magnitude faster than that of enamels, so the extra thinner and care and feeding of lacquer finishes is worth the trouble. While it IS a lacquer thinner, it is fairly mild and will not attack and craze polystyrene like off-the -shelf lacquer thinners will.

It really is a leveler!
I used 60 percent Mr. Color Leveling Thinner to 40 percent Tamiya X-22 Gloss Clear over flat paint and it produced a nice, even and smooth gloss finish. Much better than thinning with the Tamiya X-22 Thinner.
