Nice but not really for conditioning...
Nice product, conditions clay well and rolls out at different settings. One thing to know is to make sure clay being put in is at least semi soft. Harder clays will bend the machine and you will get “ripples” in your rolled out clay - especially if on the thicker settings. From what I can tell the issue is permanent once it happens. I basically don’t use it to condition clay, only to create flattened pieces. The functionality is a bit off if you have to condition clay before running it through the conditioner.

I know that there are mixed reviews on this. We are using it as a family to play and have fun with. It works well and the kids love it. Great for mixing colors and getting an even thin sheet of sculpey. I do agree that when you try and get a really thin sheet it is wrinkled and not flat, but if you stick with the thickest setting it is great. I haven't used any other machine, so I don't know how to compare. I would just say that if you are playing with sculpey for fun with the kids, they will love this.

For the price its good.
I purchased this for my 10yr old daughter to use for her small clay business. She was able to set it up with no problem. It works well with clay that is not super soft. For example, the Sculpey Accent clay is much harder clay, and we can use this all the way to the smallest setting and still get great results. However, other clays that are softer, you will get the ripple effect once you pass the 3rd or 4th setting. I've found that even when she needs a thinner setting, we will just put the rippled clay between two pieces of wax paper and roll it out with a clay roller on her clay mat. This will smooth out the ripples, while still maintaining thickness setting. The handle for turning is kind of annoying because it always falls off, to the point where the plastic cap on the handle is now cracked. That's how a huge deal, but we've only had this for about 2 weeks now, so as far as longevity, that may be cut close. Cleaning the machine isn't too difficult. My daughter runs a baby wipe through the rollers on the thinnest setting, then turns the machine over and cleans the grips. They usually get caked up with clay. For the price, the machine isn't a bad investment. As far as longevity, it may not be though. Many machines out that are "industrial strength" or made to withstand a long period of wear and tear are a bit more pricey. I think within time, it may be worth purchasing though.

A wonderful tool for polymer clay
This tool works very well. The size of the roller is perfect for most projects. I do not find that clay sticks to the roller, so it is easy to use with multiple colors in one session. This product makes the clay soft and easy to work with.

Good as a starter machine, but not worth the price
I purchased this less than 2 weeks ago. I was really excited about it as I’m just starting out with polymer clay, but I’m disappointed in the quality of it. The handle does not lock in so it’s constantly falling out, while using it as well as just on its own. It is loud and squeaky, and the clamp broke after the 4th use. It will not tighten to the surface I need to attach it to, it just stops and the screw pushes down. The size is okay for small projects, but not what I wanted it for. It is hard to turn the handle, and even with the clamp I’ve had to push down on the machine because the handle doesn’t stay in. It was definitely not worth the price, and it was on sale when I purchased it. I am already looking into buying a new one from a different brand. If you’re planning on using a pasta machine a lot, spend the extra money on something different.

Utterly disappointed. Utterly cheap.
I have only had this machine a month. I use it frequently for my polymer clay business, but have had problems since the first day use. I started by reading the instructions on how to use it and clean it properly. I have tried my best to follow these instructions as this machine is vital to my work flow, but even during set up the handle and clamp started giving me problems. I don’t know if I got a faulty machine or if it the standard design, but the handle doesn’t seem to fit correctly into the machine. It was hard to attach and has made a loud grinding sound every time I turn it (clay or no clay in the machine) since the first use. Every tutorial on clay and pasta machines I have watched have NOT been so hard to crank or made the grinding sound. The clamp is plastic and does not easily attach to any table I have tried. It often loosens while using the machine. After this month, the plastic on the clamp has started breaking. Recently when I was using it, the machine jammed. It was a standard size of clay based on the instructions and tutorials I have watched. Since then, the machine has stopped working consistently. The handle will turn, but the rollers will not. Now, the plastic on the handle has started to break, too. I have had excessive problems with black marks on my clay, rippling, and an abundance of bubbles due to the machine’s poor quality. Despite troubleshooting the issues and cleaning the machine according to the instructions, the dial has jammed up a few times as well. Overall this product is cheaply made and poor quality. If you just want to see how you’d enjoy working with clay it’s worth the price, but if you work with clay frequently or run a business please invest in something of better quality. My business is now behind an entire week and a half during a vital time, solely because of this machine.

I bought TWO and they both broke!
Thinking Sculpey is the leading polymer clay brand, we tend to think everything should be great! I bought TWO Sculpey Tools Clay Conditioning Pasta Machine, and they both broke. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Awesome little machine!
This machine works amazing and makes clay crafting a breeze! Be sure to wipe down the rollers between colors to avoid unwanted mixing/blending :)

Maybe it's a broken model, or maybe it's useless?!!
I had watched comparison videos between the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine and other generic pasta machine brands. I felt relatively confident that the purchase would improve on my experience with my generic pasta machine model. Unfortunately, the Sculpey machine completely shreds the polymer clay, even if I pre-condition it at length. The rollers are mechanically very jerky compared to the smooth roll of the pasta machine. My main need from this purchase had been a thicker setting on the rollers, as my pasta machine produces, well.. pasta thin clay... on its thickest setting. Unfortunately, the Sculpey machine is unusable on the No. 1 (thickest) setting, as it flays the clay. I will return it if I can work out how to do so without incurring too much cost...!
