I bought the 222XR and 322GW dashcams, so this review covers some advanced points with hits and tips. The 222XR pack comes with the ‘Rear WINDOW Camera’ which connects to the front dashcam via a proprietary connector. The rear camera mount uses a 3M pad to affix to the window with the camera affixing to the mount using a strong magnet which makes angling it simple. Pro tip: this rear camera is compatible with 622GW, 522GW, 422GW, 322GW, it is NOT compatible with the 322GW which instead uses the ‘Rear VIEW Camera’ or ‘CABIN View Camera’ models. 222XR does not have GPS so it doesn’t overlay your location or speed on its recorded video. Picture quality of both camera is excellent and identical as far as I can see. Both take pictures as well as video and protect files automatically. Both come with two 3M adhesive pads affixed to small plastic ‘plates’, these are useful if you want to move your camera and mount between vehicles as you simply slide the ‘Click & Go Mount’ out. Pro tip: Although the ‘Click & Go Mount’ looks the same on both cameras the 322GW one additionally contains the GPS chip so for GPS to work you MUST use the 322GW with its mount. The dashcam itself is attached to the ‘Click & Go Mount’ using a strong magnet which makes removing the camera from the vehicle quick and simple, it’s also helped by the power going into the mount and not the camera so no fiddly reconnecting wires. You also get a tool to help you fit the cables and a ‘ferrite power cable attachment’ to stop electronical noise from your vehicle interfering with the camera. It’s these little touches of thought that makes you appreciate Nextbase. Pro tip: The MyNextbase Player from Nextbase is free and works with both dashcams, for the GPS data it additionally shows the speed, G forces and Google Maps overlay, it also has a video editor. If you are the person who just wants to plugin and go - the Quick Start Guide in the box is good enough, but if you are going to use features such as Parking Mode, Dual Files, Alerts etc. you will be scratching your head on what exactly these are. Go on to the Nextbase website’s Support page and download the much more details (60 pages) User Manuals.

Good quality video, does what you need it to do and straight forward enough to mount to windscreen. Takes a few goes to get it to connect to the phone app which is annoying but once connected it’s easy enough to download footage. Will not work without an SD card which has to be bought separately. Overall good investment, but connectivity improvements would make it better.

Brilliant dashcam, small sleek design so it doesn't get in the way whilst driving. Easy to press the button and lock videos. Very well made with good quality materials. The video footage is full HD and very clear. The Nextbase app is a nice touch, being able to view a live feed or download videos from the memory card is a great feature.

Update: Sent back. What's the one thing you want your dashcam to do? Record. Using the cigarette lighter to power it, which means it should turn on and start recording. Slight issue, it sometimes would and then sometimes it wouldn't record. No rhyme or reason. Tried trouble shooting, new SD card, reset it etc. The second reason that just made me throw my hands up, you can't read a number plate on it. I include the video above where for not one second can you read either number plate so what is the point? Goes off on how good it is right but an average day in Ireland and you can't even read a plate. The advertising for this dashcam is utterly misleading, packed with falsehoods. You can't even view the map or GPS as advertised in the app unless you download the videos first. Let me break this down: The app itself: You need to connect to the dashcam’s own Wi-Fi. You can view the live feed, which is admittedly helpful for setup. The "Dashcam" tab lets you see the videos stored on the camera, sorted by day. The experience: When you transfer files, live recording stops. After downloading, you need to manually restart the recording through the app’s live view—because starting it directly on the camera simply doesn’t work. Downloading videos is excruciatingly slow. This is supposed to be Wi-Fi, yet somehow it's worse than a Bluetooth connection. A 70MB file took over a minute to download—that’s a minute of footage. If you want an hour of recording, plan to sit in your car with the ignition on for over an hour. Realistically, you’re better off connecting the camera to a PC or laptop to transfer files faster. The GPS map fiasco: The GPS map, with telemetry and route data, looks amazing in the advertising. But here’s the catch: you need Wi-Fi to access it. The problem? You also need to connect to the dashcam’s Wi-Fi to see the videos. So, to view even a snippet of trip data, you have to download all the files first. To say the advertising is misleading would be an understatement. And it gets worse: The much-hyped SOS Emergency Response? It’s free for one year, but after that, they slap you with a subscription fee. The only reason I can see the app being useful is during an accident, when you might need to get files immediately onto your phone to show the Gardaí or police. In that case, it could be helpful—but it’s not advertised with that use case in mind. The only reasons I might keep this dashcam are the speed and location data embedded in the footage (accuracy tests pending), along with its 60fps/1080p quality, which is an improvement over my current Nextbase’s 1080p/30fps. But honestly, this feels like a bait-and-switch product.

Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo e facilità di installazione della dashcam anteriore. La sto utilizzando da un mese e ne sono soddisfatto, le immagini sono dettagliate e la visione notturna è sufficiente, tenendo conto del prezzo del prodotto. Aggiornamenti al 2024 sono passati 20 mesi e la batteria si è gonfiata, risultato lo schermo si è staccato e la batteria esce dalla sua posizione. Ho cercato in rete una batteria di ricambio senza trovare nulla. Reputo 20 mesi un tempo veramente breve per il costo sostenuto. Sicuramente non ricomprerei questo prodotto e lo sconsiglio vivamente.

I purchased this camera after extensive searching and reviewing multiple videos. The camera comes packaged very well and when taking it out of its box, I was impressed with the immediate feel of quality. It's something that you can touch and know it is solid and well made. I charged the camera for 2 hours as suggested and then went into the setup which is very easy to follow. In connecting the unit inside my car, I used the suction mount, knowing that when I found the right place to position it, I would probably need to use the 3M glued mount. So far the suction has held through much heat and a lot of vibration. I also purchased the cabin camera with this unit. It mounts solidly into the mini HDMI connection and gives great interior shots with it's 170 degree field as well. The only possibly complaint I could have is the magnetic connection holding the camera to the mount is too aggressive, causing the mount to swivel each time the camera is removed and necessitating adjustment again. That said, the camera is made in the UK with distribution and customer service in the US. I contacted them with questions before purchase and they were fast to answer and had excellent skills in handling questions. I would recommend this camera to my friends and family with no hesitation.
