SAM XT Extremity Tourniquet, Black 1/EA

I was introduced to this tourniquet in a medical class for the military, and was immediately impressed by the one major improvement over the CATS - This tourniquet is MUCH easier to self apply, due to the ratcheting lock mechanism. With a CATS, you have to pull it tight and then twist. This one locks in place, so you can self apply without having to pull tight and hold or velcro. It's a minor difference, but enough of a change that I've updated my primary first aid kits to include this tourniquet. The CATS are still a great tool, but I will keep those in my secondary kits.

Saw this at the Singapore Air Show and immediately needed one. User friendly, but make sure you practice using it. Army issued tourniquet is good, but SAM XT is cheaper and will always be tight even over a uniform. Two prongs stick out once the strap is tight enough going through the holes on the strap which keeps the strap in place with velcro being an additional support. Twisting the rode is the same as a conventional tourniquet. Hopefully I don’t need to use this, but I will always have it with me in the event I do!

Works as intended. Easy to learn. Just make sure the tabs that grab the belt to hold it in place are back into the mechanism before you put it away. Because that could cause big problems in an emergency

Legit and arrived on time…hopefully I’ll never have to use it on myself or a loved one.

This brand is new to me but a friend recently had one of his used on a car accident victim and the ER couldn’t say enough could things about it. I have added to my active bleed kit which I carry with me daily.

En lo personal el sistema del torniquete SAM XT lo hace mi favorito algo que me gusta es el “click” cuando se logra la tracción necesarias para ajustar el molinete y parar el sangrado. El precio es alto pero es de lo mejor. Lo recomiendo para uso personal no vas a querer usarlo para practicar ya que puede luego disminuir su función en una situación real. Se puede practicar con torniquetes mas baratos y usar este tipo de torniquete como parte de tu equipo EDC

I like the CAT tourniquet and this gives the design a little more. Easier to tighten down with one hand and get it secured. Also has a metal windlass which I find more reassuring.
