Know how to soften rusks as they were meant
These are delicious and are a perfect texture when softened by dipping in water for a couple of seconds. Let the rusk sit a few minutes to soften after dipping in water. I noticed several people made bad reviews because they thought the rusks were rock hard. They are meant to be dipped in water first. Thank you! ๐

As hard as a rock
This is a very very hard bread, it is as hard as a stone. I don't think barley bread is ever like this. It's so expensive, yet, not enjoyable. A knife cannot go through this bread. I even tried soaking it in liquid, but it still didn't soften. I tried every suggestion on how to soften barley bread, but none worked. There is no direction on the package on how to soften the bread if it was made specially. I will not recommend.

Addictive!
I wasnโt sure what to expect. These are extremely hard. But once softened, they are absolutely delicious! Olive oil, feta, and tomatoes seems to be the go-to. They are also pretty good in milk (taste like mini-wheats but better). Iโve also dipped it in coffee because thatโs what I had on hand. Still good!

Very, very hard bread
Shouldโve listened to what most customers said. This is very very hard bread. I soaked it and I guess I soaked it too long because it came out so soggy fell apart so now I know I just am able to dunk it. Thatโs the only way I could probably eat it. Itโs way too hard for me to eat. Donโt think Iโll buy this again. Itโs not for me.

Proper barley paksimadi, so happy to have it conveniently delivered!
Proper barley paksimadi, so happy to have it conveniently delivered! The original packaging looked slightly damaged but repacked within another bag. Considering how far it has travelled, I thought the paksimadi (rusks) was in good condition. Even if you buy it fresh from the bakery in Crete, you always get some pieces broken. About a third of the pack slightly broken up is kind of normal. You just use the broken pieces in soup, salad, or coffee. Also, it is supposed to be hard. You eat it with other 'wet' foods or sprinkle some water on it and give it a minute.

Fresh or stale?
These are excellent when fresh. However, these are stale. They are over a year old according to the expiration date. My wife and I eat one each per day instead of bread. Olive oil, vinegar, and oregano! Delicious and โBlue Zoneโ lifestyle. Please send fresher next time.

Rock bread
The bread was harder than rock. Seriously, how can you not be refunded for bread you have no way of eating?

Remarkable yum!
I have never had rusks before but am delighted to make their acquaintance! I love whole grains and crunchy stuff. Biting a rusk is not for shy folk! Some persons might suggest a chisel. I'll ask my Greek friends for guidance. This is food for bold noshers! Might eventually reorder this exotic but simple twice baked grain food.

A very healthy option different to the "breads" full of sugar and salt that are sold everywhere. You just have to get it wet before eating. If you are not familiar with he traditional Mediterranean diet you may not appreciate.

The bag is made from a kind of plastic that clearly is easily broken by sharp pieces of bread. Two holes in the bag that I got. While the toasts furthest from the holes were OK, those that were near the holes were beyond soaking.

It was too thick and brittle. Hence didn't eat it.
