Awesome combat. Amazingly fun.
DmC: Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition is the re-release of the game that came out for PS3 and Xbox 360 a few years back. Simply put: its awesome. They took everything that was great about DmC to begin with and made it better. Smoother graphics, a solid 60 fps, 1080p resolution, and they added in all the DLC including the story expansion, as well as the Bloody Palace mode, skins for Dante, weapon skins and a new "turbo mode" that increases the game speed by 20%. The best part is there is no download required, all of the content is on the disc. So what is DmC? DmC (Devil May Cry) follows the exploits of Dante, a young, brash, rebellious young man with the gift of incredible swordsman skills and an expert marksman. Dante is the son of a demon, Sparda, who betrayed his master, Mundus by falling in love with an angel. This makes Dante a cross breed, or "Nephilim" meaning Dante is bestowed with both Demonic and Angelic powers. Due to his father's betrayal, Mundus murders Dante's mother and sends his father to eternal damnation as punishment. It's up to Dante to avenge his parents and put an end to Mundus' reign. Along the way, Dante crosses paths with some allies with incredible powers as he shifts between the real world and limbo, trying to find the answer to his past and determine his future. This is an action hack and slash game, all about epic set pieces, and an amazing combat engine focusing on vicious, nasty combos and insanely fast speeds. The action is intense. I don't understand the hate this game received from old school Devil May Cry fans. It's a reboot, but a damn good one. Ninja Theory did an incredible job on it. Parents Warning: This game is loaded with blood, gore, and extremely graphic language.

An excellent port to an already excellent Devil may cry game
As a longtime fan of Devil may cry, I'll start off by answering two important questions; was a reboot neccessary? And does said reboot live up to the Devil may cry series' high octane hack and slash legacy? The answer: No and yes respectively. Dmc devil may cry Definitive edition is a next gen port of 2013's DMC Devil may cry developed by Ninja Theory, the game runs at 60 FPS and 1080p; a welcome change from the ps3/360 versions' 30 FPS. It includes all of the previously released DLC including the Vergil expansion, in addition to some new outfits such as Dantes original outfit from DMC1 and Vergil's DMC3 outfit; all of which are available right off the bat once you boot up the game. As for gameplay and story. The gameplay is much of what one would expect from a typical DMC game but once you obtain most or all of the weapons and tools the gameplay becomes a hybrid of DMC3 and 4. The game's soundtrack; composed by combichrist and Noisia go very nicely hand in hand. For those not satisfied with the gameplay speed; The game features a turbo mode which increases the gameplay speed by 20%, not my cup of tea but it should scratch that itch for those who like it fast like previous iterations. And it includes a hardcore mode which kicks the difficulty a couple of notches and applies new adjustments such as enemies becoming stronger, adjustments to devil trigger and whatnot; I'd advise completing the game once before trying hardcore mode. As for the story: Dante who has spent his childhood fighting Demons just to survive in a world ruled by Demonic forces from behind the scenes; is recruited by a radical anti-demon organization called "The Order" which is lead by his long lost twin brother Vergil. With his brother's help, Dante must take a stand and fight back against the Demons and their ruler Mundus. Despite much of the shade and exagerrations made by pissed off fans because of Dante's redesign; Ninja theory's take on Dante isn't too far from the original in terms of character, his wise cracking, cocky demeanor is still there, although he has a bit of an attitude this time around. Dante's character development over the course of the game is very gratifying to see. DmC Devil may cry also handles the relationship between Dante and Vergil very well; introducing a interesting take while not deviating too far from its core concept and develops it in a way that Devil may cry 3 never did. I'll conclude by saying that DMC devil may cry isn't perfect nor is it going to win over fans who have passed judgement on the game and especially those who refuse to give it a fair chance. But i will say this; people looking to get into Devil may cry and long time fans alike who give it a chance; you won't be disappointed.

Always loved this game and still do !
Let me start off by saying I have the original ps3 version of this game and I purchased this one to play on my ps4 because thatโs the system I use nowadays . I was surprised and excited to find that this definitive edition version of this game had all the character skins and the item finder included for free with the game when the ps3 version you have to pay actual money for all those extras so thatโs a great plus . So much nostalgia and fun with this game ! Iโve played other DMC games but this one always stuck with me as my all time favorite ! I know this game gets a lot of hate but I actually love the storyline contrary to what others say. I think it is a well thought out interesting story . The cut scenes are enjoyable to watch and the soundtrack is amazing, fits perfectly to the game ! If youโve never played this DMC game before I highly recommend, itโs a good game to add to your collection !

Best DMC ever!
This game rocks! I love the super sharp controls, lots of stylish fighting moves, the amazing smooth graphics, Dante's broody & sassy character, the classic dark color palette and style... everything about this game is high quality. I did experience a few stutters in the framerate but they were very small, nothing to complain about but thought I should include this in my brief review. Overall an excellent game, and I haven't even started exploring all the extras. I was expecting all the slashing, stabbing and shooting to become repetitive, but this common pitfall in action games is masterfully avoided with an assortment of enemies to fight, a variety of weapons and tons of different attacks options, and a changing environment. I have played nearly all of the DMC games in the series and this is by far the best one yet. Highly recommended for action game fans!

Hack and slash, pure and simple
I don't get why everyone was in this huge hissy fit over this game when it first came out. Sure it has nothing to do with the old school game of the same name that absolutely wowed me at the time when I first played it on my PlayStation 2.....which still works to this day.....yeah, that console is a god. ALL HAIL THE PLAYSTATION 2!!!!! Ahem..... Is this a perfect game? No. After all it's a hack and slash game and those games, while good, are not perfect. But I don't think the game deserved a zero score on some sites. I take offense of the people that rated this game a score of 2's and zero's. I grew up in the era of the Atari 2600 and I know what a zero game looks like and this game isn't one of those by a long shot. The story is thin and boring just like most hack and slash games. The entire point of a game is the gameplay. You can have a game where the story is on par with Paradise Lost but if the gameplay is lackluster it won't receive a high score. The gameplay of DMC is all about stringing together crazy combos and getting unique weapons after you defeat a boss. Is this better than the original game? Yes and no. The old Dante was a cool dude but not very deep...The new Dante is a jerk teenager. The writing is lazy in both games, especially in this game. This has much better graphics and action. I didn't get this game for great story but for mindless fun hacking and slashing enemies to ribbons. The story is cookie cutter stuff, hence why I didn't mention the story at all. What do you need to know except "kill a demon that's taking over the world with a witch and your brother" ?

Very naaaaice!
I feel like the Devil May Cry games went from over-appreciated, to under-appreciated in a very short time. Personally, I have loved every installment- but after 2, people seemed to lose interest- and not without reason. There were no new stuffs: kill monsters, upgrade the skill-stuffs to compliment your playstyle, and try not to miss super tiny, well-hidden secret things and places. You couldn't possibly squeeze a 5th game worth playing, from the same still-beating-half-demon-heart... Could you?! I submit that you most certainly can!- especially when you can 'reboot' a game and not let it suck it's way through student loans. DMC is like what the earlier Devil May Cry games wish they could be- without having realized! Hack and slash through a morbidly beautiful world, whoop demon-monster butt! Upgrade the stuff that you like using! Fight really big ugly things!!! But if you act now, we'll throw in some super-satisfying hackey-slashey melee combat!!
