Has anyone used a vinegar solution in their Nespresso?

I've cleaned my 2 nespresso machines for 5 years with this solution: 1 part vinegar , 2 parts water. Fill up the reservoir. Do 2 descaling cycles with the solution (you can re-use the first). Then do 3 cycles with clean water. then brew coffee afterward to test. You'll notice better crema, reduced bitterness Descaling isn't magic. The calcium build-up are alkaline minerals, so you need an acid to dissolve them and flush it out. It the same process as de-scaling a faucet or regular coffee maker. The official product is just powdered citric acid. You can use lemon juice in place of vinegar if you like , but it's 20x as expensive (the nespresso product is 100x). t

The instructions were very vague. Do I empty the entire package into the water and rinse it through??

Yes, you empty the whol package and run water through the machine at least three times, reusing the same water each time. then rinse it out and run it once without the solution (using purewater) before using it again.

Why would someone pay more for descaling solution here on Amazon than via Nespresso ?

I wonder why answers always seem to be all over the place. This product is NOT available for Amazon Prime. The free shipping was ~5-10 days. The total price on Nespresso website was about a dollar cheaper and with 2 days UPS shipping.
