Exo Terra Coco Husk, 8 QT (8.8 L) – Coconut Fiber Reptile Bedding for Tropical Terrariums, Humidity-Holding Coco Fiber Substrate for Amphibians & Invertebrates

I have a large collection of Hoyas and while I've used orchid bark in my substrate for years, I have come to prefer coco husk much more, as it's easier to shred, more light weight, and airy. I combine it with a small amount of potting soil, perlite and charcoal for a perfect mix. I got the 7.2 bag, NOT the compressed packaging. The bag came packed full to the top, so it will last me a very long time. It's clean, with no smell, it's easy to shred into small pieces and there are no random rocks or sticks like I often find with orchid bark mixes. It's a great value and I recommend.

Excellent product but I wish I could buy more per package (greater volume of product).

Great product

This is 5 stars because the product is very useful, soft for reptiles if that’s what your using it for, keeps the ground moist and the air humidity level for the most part, and is overall a very functional and natural look in a terrarium. However I would 100% NOT recommend this for ball pythons, or any other snake for that matter because the first time I fed my snake in her new enclosure using this substrate, she missed her food and ended up choking on a piece of this- I had to use tweezers to get it out of her mouth which was probably extremely stressful and terrible that I had to remove her from her tank while eating. Great for reptiles that wouldn’t mistake this for food though!

Love this product. Super use to put into my snakes tank. Didn’t give me any issues. Totally worth 5 dollars that’s for sure! My snake is loving it and it’s keeping the humidity in her take very well. Amazing price and amazing product is all I can say. (Also in picture I already opened the product)

This product is amazing. I am so glad that Amazon had it as an ADD ON for my order for only about $4 per bag. My local pet shop wanted $16 per bag. This is a very nice substrate for all of your rainforest friends. All natural coconut husk chunks. No dust and no smell. It is perfect for my Monkey Tail Skink. Keeps in the humidity she needs to stay healthy.

I thought I was getting something with a bit more mulch/earthy consistency, but this stuff is very much like small wood chips.

Good quality, "mulchy" texture. It retains moisture very well, and all you have to do is shuffle it around to "refresh it" after cleaning. I have a 10-gallon tank for one toad, and he loves to dig himself into this stuff. It's about 3 inches thick if you pour the whole bag into a 10-gallon tank.
