The MAP: Making the Bible Meaningful, Accessible, Practical Review: Excellent Resource - I have several resources at my bedside available to me for studying the Bible. The two I cannot live without are the Life Application Study Bible (New Living Translation) and THIS book, The MAP. The MAP does an awesome job of making things more straightforward and clear. The author is not afraid to address confusing passages and admit that it is weird. Sometimes he is able to offer a cultural reason, or insightful explanation, and sometimes he admits there is no easy understanding. The book is set up so that each chapter is a book of the Bible. When I read a book of the Bible, I read the corresponding chapter in The MAP. But it is more than just reading it like a book, as each chapter has time lines, charts, boxes with a specific topic, questions, puzzling points, maps - whatever it takes to help understand better. The writing style is lighthearted and quite frequently downright funny!!! Laugh out loud funny!! The MAP has been an invaluable resource for me as I try to learn and understand the Bible. For anyone just starting to study the Bible, I recommend The MAP, NLT Life Application Study Bible, and Jen Hatmaker's The Modern Girls Guide To Bible. The latter is the book that actually taught me HOW to study the Bible. I have been a Christian most of my life, but I never understood how to study the Bible, how to get meaning out of the Bible until I found Hatmaker's book. Review: Grateful for this book! - I've been religious my entire life but had never read the Bible front to back, word for word and I wanted to know what I was missing. This book was such an incredible read. It was light enough to get you through the really tough reads but informative enough that you could understand those parts as well. It was a little "jokey" at times but I think I needed the break from time to time in order to continue my reading. I enjoyed being able to actually enjoy The Bible. It broke things down so I understood each section, its writer, when it was written, why it was written. It was amazing to be able to get such insight. I understand that it isn't for everyone (some people like to take religion, very seriously) but The Bible in itself is a very deep and complex read, so having something a bit easier to follow along with it, was beyond helpful. I even read The Map before I even used it as a Bible guide, just to go through and get an idea of what I was getting into with my adventures through The Bible. I'm so grateful that this book was written as it allowed me to read, follow and even understand the most important book in my life.

My new "go to" for Bible Study!
Seldom do I open a package or book, and spend the next hours reading! As other reviews state, this is wonderfully written and is truly engaging. Both visually/ great information/scriptures/history/background and written in such a manner that you are really engaged! I love the wit of the author that can lighten some heavy areas and keep you engaged. The use of the "Metro lines" to break down the sections and "stops" was brilliant!. Visual/educational/engaging.... I'm buying for holiday gifts for family too!

Makes the Bible easy to understand
I am a pastor and am always looking for new resources to help my church members understand the Bible. I love this book so much that I lend it out frequently, refer it to pastors-in-training, and have gifted it to lay leaders. It breaks each book of the Bible into easy to understand explanations, truly makes the Bible accessible for people, but is interesting enough for a pastor to use.

Great commentary for beginner Bible students and quick reference.
This is a great commentary for any one who is just beginning on their journey of Bible study and for others who want to have a quick reference. I love the author's humor, lists, maps, side comments and etc. I have bought several over time to give as gifts. Personally, I use this along with my other commentaries.

I also like the Remember portion of each chapter
I am thoroughly enjoying this book, It precise, and really helps you understand each chapter of the Bible. Its written for you to understand each chapter along with a bit of humor. I also like the Remember portion of each chapter. In another words if you do not understand the chapter you have one thing from the chapter to remember and it is good to have the sentence there.

I have found this book to be very informative, funny. It has brought the Bible to life in an easy to read and understand style. It answers many hard to understand passages and admits that sometimes we just don't know. I would recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn about God and the Lord Jesus Christ in their everyday lives.
