Sounds to me like your "good" water pressure is not good enough. These sprinklers require a LOT of pressure because they emit a high flow of water.

What size hose do the fittings need? Also, can I string 3 of these together?

Standard garden hose fittings as found at any garden store. I use 5/8"hose, but the fittings on a 1/2" or 3/4" hose are the same. The diameter of the hose affects how much water feeds the sprinkler, so larger diameter provides more flow. This assumes you have good water pressure. Stringing them together requires a LOT of water pressure. Two strung together will each not have the coverage of one alone.

Why are there 2 different pictures?? One is a plastic spike and 1 is a metal spike. Is this attached to a metal or plastic spike?
