Smells great. No heavy smoke. Best practice is to not scorch the stick. flame the tip then blow out after 3 seconds.

I love these. My room smells like a calm dojo. For anyone saying they burn fast- You MUST blow out the flame once the tip is red hot!!

I really like this product. It’s lovely and cleansing and warm. The quality of the scent is beautiful. And the price doesn’t hurt. My only complaint is the condition they were in when they got to me. About 1/3 or 1/4 were broken into small pieces. I’m still keeping them, but the box was broken and torn and all these pieces are frustrating and disappointing. Beyond that, I’m attached to this scent. It’s calming and smells like a clean wood being burned in the distance. Most of them are intact and my last box wasn’t like this at all.

joss made from a genuine mid-range wood. burning a stick produces a steady, delightful & authentic woody-sandal aroma within a heavy white dancing smoke which will, in quiet spaces, eventually form a bright white cloud otoh this is not resinous "heartwood" so imo the aroma is not intense nor does it linger beyond a day

The two characters on the box (at least in Chinese) read, roughly, “basic sandalwood” or “plain/pure sandalwood” (the first character has lots of meanings but they’re all positive in this context :) ) The two characters do not lie. Other reviewers have said this and I concur: The sandalwood scent from these is the best and purest I have smelled from any such product. If you buy from Amazon, though, you are paying for your convenience. If you shop around you can get it substantially cheaper; I bought it here because I had an Amazon credit to spend, and hey—free shipping! And I’m glad I did. They are a little shorter than some other Joss sticks but they’re top notch.

Weak scent. Substantially inferior to Nippon Kodo Kayuragi Sandalwood despite similar pricing.
