Fresh controllers for the kids, work and feel great.
My daughter's love playing the Sega Genesis, these controllers are slightly smaller than the original ones and being new the buttons are so much easier and functional. They don't feel like cheap controllers either. I highly recommend 👍

AMAZING controller
I am usually wary of 3rd party controllers because I have had so many bad experiences. This controller is a perfect solution for the Genesis. I have one first party 6-button and this in the blue color. I 100% prefer this controller. If you didn’t know better, you would not know you were using a third party controller. The cord is longer, which is also a plus. It plugs smoothly into my Genesis and works great. Plus, the price is great. I’m waiting for the red controller to be in stock again because I want another one! I play a lot of Lethal Enforcers, which requires precision with the d-pad and quick timing on the buttons. This controller is delivering after a solid number of gameplay hours.

Amazing quality, but check your D-Pad
If you get a good one, these are amazing. Nearly identical to the original versions. Even the plastic casing is high quality. Pros: -Everything down to the plastic is high quality. -Nearly identical to the original 6-button controller in both feel and game play. -Responsive buttons and d-pad. -Can be used with the 8bitdo Megadrive mod kits. Though the squeeze for the micro USB cable will be tight. Cons: The d-pad design is different than the originals. It's a 2 piece design that uses the distance from the top of the pad to the board to create a similar rolling effect. It's not as good as the original, though its still absolutely better than most 3rd party Genesis d-pads. -There seems to be issues with the d-pads on the black version. It's probably not going to bother most people, But it is worth noting so that people who care can check their controllers for this issue. I've ordered 4 of these, 3 black and 1 blue and have noticed all the d-pads on the black version were different. 1 just wouldn't sit right. Upon opening, I noticed it was just molded uneven. I thought it might have been an issue with 1 which is why I ordered 2 more. But they all have the issue. If I had to guess I'd say that it was a mistake in manufacturing and they just decided it wasn't a big enough deal to fix it. It's a small difference, but the fact that there is any difference is disappointing. I'm not sure if the blue has a similar issue but the one I received was perfect. This didn't make me dislike the controllers or change my excitement for all the upcoming retro-bit sega/n64 controllers. It should also be noted that I notice EVERYTHING. If you care about stuff like this I would order the blue or wait a while to order because most likely there will be versions in the future that don't have this problem. Honestly I'm surprised no one has noticed this with all the hype around them.

Feels like 1993 all over again
I was really excited when press copies were mailed out and initial reports stated that it felt like the real deal. This was most important to me because if this was going to be branded as OEM as possible it needed to feel legit in my hands. Now that I own and and took the time to break it down, screw by screw, I am satisfied with the product. The controller is of the same level of plastic quality as the original. Now lets compare it to my original OG '93 model... - The D-pad is very similar to touch and feel (it's black, original was a dark gray). All 4 directions click/mash better than on the old, but that may be due to age and milage differences on the pads. Also the '93 controller rotates in a 360 degree radius in a more "rounded" motion tilting in each point of turn like an arcade joystick... the new D-pad tilts more like your typical d-pad. (This does not inhibit input in any way) - the 6 buttons mostly felt good. The XYZ buttons were on point for sponginess and "clickiness." However the ABC buttons felt off; I'll explain. A button felt like it had too short of a range to mash, B button felt sticky, and C button felt perfect. When I deconstructed it and put in the '93 membrane and resembled it again those 3 buttons felt fine. Putting the new membrane in the old controller felt fine as well. So It has to be the new buttons... or just my ABC buttons. - START and MODE are fine as well. MODE is a louder "click" and the button appears to sit more flush with the controller shape than the OG '93 controller, which is a hair bit raised up. OG START button was more mushy while the new one is more stiff like XYZ buttons. It's a plastic button, a more clicky mash feels correct. Mushy is for silicone buttons, like those found on nintendo controllers. - The cord is was one of the biggest surprise I discovered. It came wrapped and tied with a wire tie and, to my surprise, when I undid the tie it stretched itself out. No need to slide my hands down the cord and stretch out the bends. It is a silicone/rubber cord that has that aged loose feel. It's not a cheap, hard, stiff plastic cord... no, this is a premium feeling cord. And here's the best part... the tip is the official SEGA male/female connector. Logo and all. The '93 controller's cord has a more smooth, shiny, plastic feel and is a bit stiff even in its old age. The new controller is more matte black and flaccid. I recommend this if you've recently gotten into sega genesis, thanks to stores like gamestop selling retro gaming, or if you are a retro gamer worried about 25yr old controllers being beaten and bruised and just want something that looks new and works like new. I'm the type who loves "used, 1 owner" and "adult owned" and this feels more like "never been opened in 25yrs". Buy it, see for yourself.

4 Controllers, 4 Duds
I originally bought two of the red controllers and used them successfully on a Sega Teradrive running at 10MHz for the first few sessions. 4 days later, using the same Sega Teradrive unit runing at 10MHz, both controllers started to misbehave in a manner consistent with other 1-star reviews- Pressing the Start or C button would be unreliable, and holding the start or C button would behave as if the button were being pressed repeatedly (both seemingly owing to an intermittently-broken connection). On one controller, buttons A and B would function normally, but on the other, both buttons A and C were entirely nonfunctional. Upon switching the Sega Teradrive to 7MHz (Standard Mega Drive/Genesis) mode, the Start/C button issues seemed to disappear on both controllers, but both A and B buttons were still non-functional on the second controller. This behavior was also exhibited on a stock Sega Genesis model 2. X, Y, Z buttons were not tested. Due to the high rating of the product, I disregarded the malfunction as "a bad batch" and returned both red controllers, purchasing two replacements from the black line, assuming they would be from a different production run and thus more likely to be reliable. Upon receiving the new black controllers, I could tell immediately due to the condition of the packaging that they were refurbished or just straight-up returned as each box had clear scotch tape across the opening flap with the two factory seals already broken and the plastic inserts were slightly damaged. This time, both controllers immediately exhibited the same Start/C button malfunction on the Sega Teradrive running at 10MHz. 7MHz was not tested, but the issue seemed to clear up when used on the stock Sega Genesis model 2. However, on the same Model 2 Genesis, one of the controllers exhibited complete malfunction, with none of the buttons doing anything at all, or any held button behaving as if multiple unrelated buttons were being pressed repeatedly, seemingly depending on how the cable coming out of its back was oriented. The nature of these errors seems to indicate faulty connections somewhere within the controller and/or faulty timing hardware of some kind, which would explain the difference in performance between Genesis hardware running at 7MHz (standard) vs 10MHz (which most people do not have). This, combined with the multitude of similar malfunctions reported by the low-rated reviews leads me to believe that even if I kept these controllers for the Genesis Model 2 without using them for the Sega Teradrive, the defect will eventually compound to the point where the malfunction will present on all hardware. That is, the one controller out of each set of two that appeared to function correctly on the Genesis 2 - again, each set of 2 that I ordered had one controller that exhibited total failure on all hardware. This is terrible quality for an officially-licensed product carrying Sega's name, and furthermore, I do not appreciate the seller sending me already-opened boxes that may have contained previously-used merchandise that may have been returned due to known malfunction. I will be returning the newest set for refund and I will not attempt to buy this product again, nor will I again buy from this seller.

Great controller for Sega Genesis
Great controller, good size, feels premium, and has a long cord. Just what I was looking for to bring my old Genesis back to life.

Nice looking, but...
I ordered two controllers 6-7 months ago. After 2-3 uses, one of them stopped working and the other one works 50% of the time. So, I bought a new one last week and it didn't work at all. I read the comments and I really think it's like a lotto. Good luck!

The Best controller on Sega Genesis !!
Just perfect !! I bought 3 blacks and 1 blue. The plug are just perfect tight and the 10 ft cable are soft. I can’t play Ms. Pac man with the blue one something weird with the d-pad ... I don’t have any problems on my Genesis 1, 2, 32X and my Mega Retron HD. When it’s new, the buttons and the d-pad are a little bit stiff but after 2 weeks everything’s turn just perfect. Buy it !
