Great quality for a used game
We gave my son are old Xbox that was only used once and all these years and then placed back in a box. I ordered this used game With very little hope it would work. The game came and works perfectly. My nine-year-old son is over the moon as he loves baseball.

Great game
My nephew is a great baseball player and into all the video games including the violent ones. This was a great substitute and he enjoys playing it.

Not a single step forward from earlier versions
I can't say enough bad about this game. My son and I played 2K10 quite a lot. Head to head and taking players through the minors. We finally thought that it was time to update - get new rookies in the rosters and update uniforms. We also expected some gameplay and graphical improvements as well. Nothing. The animations are worse than 2k10. The different animation sequences - batter leaving the box and running full steam - do not connect well at all. There's a huge jerk between the two. This seems like just a visual problem, however if you tell a batter to go to the next base and then immediately tell him to go back, the jerky animations mean you could probably go and get something from the fridge before he actually goes back (and usually gets tagged out). Fielders suffer the same problem. An infielder running to get a grounder will come to a complete stop and hesitates before he starts his throwing motion - costs double-plays half the time. The batting interface seems worse for some reason over 2k10. After a week I still can get the timing - I cannot tell the difference between a foul to the left, to the right, or a base hit up the middle. I cannot try to hit to the right side (behind the runner) or try to pull a fly ball like I was able in 2k10. A real waste of time and cause of aggravation. Even the graphics aren't updated. While other games are going to photo faces, you can't make the faces of players look like anyone you know and the models don't look any better than 2K10. Don't waste your money on this game. Buy 2k10 or maybe 11 - or else find a different game altogether. >>>After a couple of months playing the game I remain unimpressed. I have figured out the hitting interface - but only on rookie level. The game is obviously made by people who have never played baseball. The computer continually bunts with 2 strikes, tells me to steal third with 2 outs, and other baseball foolishness. The commentary is good - however they repeat themselves over and over. For example, "He hit a homer the last time up. Last time up he hit a home run to left." They also can get behind the play and be talking about your at bat when you're already back in the field. I turned them off rather quickly. I am very upset to know that if you have an Xbox, this is the only option for a baseball game. It's a very poor excuse.

Disappointing but still fun for this "MLB The Show" convert
I recently traded in one of my PS3's (and will probably trade in the other one eventually) for an XBox 360 because I tend to enjoy the XBox games more. However, the one sacrifice for this avid baseball fan is going from "MLB The Show" to "MLB 2K". I think MLB The Show is great, but it might be a little too good for my skill level because I seem to have a tough time hitting. Hitting does seem a little easier for me in 2K, and I actually enjoy the pitching mechanics better in 2K as well. However, the presentation and animations need polishing. Some of the screens seem cluttered to the point that you aren't sure what you are looking at or why that information is important. I think my two biggest gripes are the base running and the player likenesses. When coming out of the batter's box in The Show, the runner puts his head down and sprints to first. In 2K, the runner throws his head back and jogs to first. It's like he is running with a refrigerator on his back. As far as the player likenesses are concerned, some look good, but many are pretty bad. The Show definitely does a better job in this department. I know that many people are complaining that this game hasn't changed much since last year. Luckily, I didn't have this game last year. However, you would think they could update the head shots. Chris Stewart was traded to the Yankees during the 2012 Spring Training, and he still has his old cap on in his head shot. Even with these problems, I am having a lot of fun with this game. However, for a company that has the MLB exclusive and has done well with their NBA and old NFL games, you would think they would get it right one day. That one day never seems to come, however. It almost seems like they feel their game is good enough, and there is no need for any changes. Let's hope 2K turns things around now that they renewed their contract with MLB. Wishlist: Legends and old stadiums (I haven't seen either yet) and mini games. I loved the mini games that EA's MVP baseball used to have.

Can someone please make All Star Baseball 2014?!?!
In terms of pick up and play, simplicity, and just plain fun, the best baseball game ever was definitely All Star Baseball 2005 for the PS2. Thom Brennaman and Steve "Psycho" Lyons are awesome commentators, (I love Psycho, he's the man). Its a shame they stopped making the game and someone should really renew the series. Don't do anything crazy!; Keep the gameplay the same as it was in ASB05 and just update the rosters and the graphics. I'm a big fan of the 3-D Hit cursor, the pitching and defense are great too. I bought this game, 2k, more out of excitement for Baseball, and Spring training fever than anything. I have an X-Box 360 and this was the only option. The game is pretty and everything, it reminds me of MVP Baseball 2005, but overall its just ok. Definitely going to take some time to get used to the new hitting and pitching set-up they have.

For my needs: 5 stars
Lots of whiners out there about this game. They are hard-core gamers. I am not - I just want to play the scheduled Twins v. other game that day. This brings me that experience. Loads the most current stats and the commentary includes "this hitter's on a cold streak" / "he's won his last 2 starts" / etc. Really helps me understand what's going on - my baseball chatter with friends / relatives is elevated because of this game.

Awesome By
Cyber Monday hooked me up on this game and man it was a steal of a buy! I love it. Nothing like an outfield of Yasiel Puig, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Cespedes at dh, Goldshicdmt at 1st, Matt Carpenter at 2nd, Jean Segura at Short, Manny Machado at 3rd, and Buster Catching my aces Price, Verlander, Scherzer, Sabathia, and King Felix, Romo shutting the door!

Complete Garbage
I buy sports games every two years, so the last baseball game I bought was MLB2K11. I must have played over 60 hours on that game, and had a blast the whole time. This game is complete garbage compared to a game made two years ago. The minor league system in 2K11 was excellent it had the correct players even in AA. In 2K13 the minor league is filled with random people with baseball players last names (I have seen four Grienkes, three Verlanders, and numerous other multiples). The UI is almost completely the same, I think they changed the main menu and added a message center in yourPlayer mode. I have had very little to no fun, almost makes me want to buy a PS3 to get the SHOW.
