A favorite for my 11 year old, 8 year old and me. - We have enjoyed all the books of this series. Some parts of the Fablehaven books, and this book in particular, are blatantly moralistic. A little too blatant for an adult book, but very appropriate for a children's book. I really liked that for the most part because it is a springboard for meaningful conversations with my kids. As for book 5. It is fast paced and engaging. For the past three days my 11 year old daughter has read it every recess and then every spare minute we've had we have sat side by side both reading from our places in the book. I am reading it to my 8 year old son, but it will be another week before the two of us finish. It is a relief to have a book that I not only have NO hesitation recommending for my kids, but one that I WANT them to read because of the good lessons in it AND for its great entertainment value. I think Brandon Mull did a great job leading up to an unexpected conclusion of events for the most part. Aside from two little "tidy" parts near the end (which I don't list for "spoiler reasons") I think everything was done very very well. I even like the loose ends as they lead to great imaginative adventures if you want to continue the story on your own. Bravo! We have enjoyed all of Brandon Mull's books (Pingo included) and look forward to more! Review: Fablehaven: A Great Book Series For The Whole Family! - We discovered these books when we got the first book for our third son, who was then turning thirteen. Two years later, Mom, Dad and sons ages 13, 15 and 18 are all hooked. These books provide really good fantasy entertainment and excellent writing. I wouldn't recommend them for kids under 11 or so, depending on what they are accustomed to reading, because the books can be pretty frightening, and they deal with very serious subjects, such as death, loss, and betrayal. The stories are very well woven, and there are plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing. The characters definitely come to life, and more then once, I wanted to send Seth to his room for a week or two. Read the books, and you'll know just what I mean. I'm sorry to see the series come to an end, but looking forward to seeing what's next. Brandon Mull is a nice person as well as being one of my favorite authors now; three of my sons and I drove over 200 miles in 2009 to have a few of the books signed, and he was very nice, and still keeps in contact with my son Nick, who is his biggest fan.

Amazing story telling and well thought out plot line. A perfect end to a perfect series and if you haven't read Dragonwatch yet you need to

Great Story, Great Ending, No Spoilers
It is not often I give a book a 5/5 stars but this book deserves it. I'm sure most of you have already read the other four fablehaven stories so you all have unanswered questions about the characters and story developement. The 5th book, Keys to the Demon Prison, answers all of your questions and more. It ends rather well and doesn't leave you hanging or wishing for more. It is one of those rare books that is so well written you can concede to the fact the series is over and you are happy. The plot varies a bit from the other books as Kendra and Seth go on completely seperate adventures for the entire story (until the very last 50 pages or so). Seth grows a bit more mature, Kendra move Fierce, and the satyrs get to drive a truck and be more involved! I cannot say much more then this in the review because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. Some of these reviews should be avoided until you have read it all!!! Anyway, this book is great. I'd imagine this is my favorite book followed closely by book number three, the shadow plague. This book is in Hardcover, has beautiful cover art, and is thicker than the others so you have a bit more reading to do. Happy Fable Reading :)

Wicked-Fun Story, Wrapped Up Well, But Way Too Rushed
I loved the Fabelhaven series. Reading in an adult's perspective, from book one I adored Seth, found Kendra a little over-bearing, and had loads of fun with their adventures. I probably liked book 4 the best. I did enjoy this book as well, but I agree with many other reviewers who think it should have been broken up into more books. (The only problem there, is I would have had to wait another year or two to get to the end.) There were some things that bothered me as far as not fleshing out the characters as much as possible, but the story was still wicked-fun. I would definitely recommend this series to 5th graders and up, especially to boys. (Girls will also like this series, but I think the boys are harder to please - and this would hit the mark.) All of my brothers (from 11 years old to 30) enjoyed the series, and I think it ranks as one of my favorites. (FYI: I'm a 24 year old mother of 2 who typically enjoys fantasy, fairy tales, romantic stories and mysteries.)

so good I’m sad
I’m going to miss this series. Fantastic characters and what a twist very early on in this last book! It took a different direction and I was so confused but it was so well planned that I couldn’t put it down.

Mit "Keys to the Demon Prison" beendet Brandon Mull seine Fablehaven Serie.
