A little rough at first, but smooths out
It was difficult to open the first time, but after a few opens/closes it smoothed out. Has a nice rubber O-ring that fits very tight (will wear in nicely). It has a disc-like thingy that is blocked/unblocked which acts as a lock/unlock. Pretty standard looking 7 pin tubular lock. Should also be fun for locksport (tubular lock pick). This thing is heavy and attracts attention. It looks like a pipe with a weird cap on the end. If you take this through an airport you WILL be stopped and asked to open (or they might just freak out). Probably leave this at home. Same with any type of security checkpoint: this is so cool/weird looking that EVERYONE will want to see what is inside of it (police/security/TSA/bomb squad/other people in line panicking). Basically it looks like a pipe bomb. It's good for locking up pills to keep away from bad grandchildren. Travelling with it, or even having it in your car WILL cause you issues. It has a very open keyway track that the pins are in. Fun to pick. Very good quality. Very tight fit on the lid. The actually tubular lock is loose in the lid, but that doesn't affect function. No, this is NOT waterproof (water would go in through/around the tubular lock) but it does have an o-ring that makes the cap fit tightly. Again, do NOT try to bring this on a plane. You will make the newspapers: "Crazy guy tries to hide drugs in a fake pipe bomb and sneak it on a plane. He was later released after missing his flight."

Yup, worth the money!
UPDATEI - don't bother ordering the one that says it's metal because it is not it is made out of plastic! love neat little things like this to begin with, but I am also very choosy and picky. I'm glad I chose this neat little locking device. This thing is really neat and it locks incredibly well. It is also not as small as I thought it would be you can pack a whole lot of stuff inside of one of these cylinders. Once you lock the lid the lid will wiggle a little bit but it is completely secure and even has a rubber gasket to help with Moisture. I picked out the stainless steel version and I am so impressed with it that I am going to order the other one as well. I know this says it's a pill container but I can literally think of hundreds of uses for this. And the fact that it has a lock on it is just absolutely top-notch amazing.

Sturdy, very very hard to pick.
I got this to help keep me out of my own medication(long story, addict lol.. I hold the bottle so I am in possession of my own medication, but I have someone close hold the key so I am forced to dose properly) And I can't get it open by forcing it, tried really really hard even using hammer and pry things.. One time I got it open by picking it, I had to improvise and used a bic pen with a slot cut in it to get a tension bar in... turns out you have to pick it multiple times to get a full rotation, and it gets stuck in the middle so the key won't work after you start picking until you get to the open position... so you have to finish picking it. It ended up taking me about 4 hours to "rake" it open all the way, wasn't worth it and will never do it again. Overall this lock is 100% worth the money, would buy again and likely will end up buying another one after I finally get frustrated and fully break this one. I can't rate the water resistance, I'm not testing that but I'm giving it 5 stars anyway.

Almost Perfect …
We live in an apartment complex where workmen and maintenance staff regularly enter our premises. I am a cancer patient and have been prescribed controlled pain medication. Since my medical condition is known by the property management, it’s not a big leap to infer that someone entering to "work" in our unit when we’re not home might be tempted to explore our med cart. We use this handy gadget to secure my pain meds. It works like a charm. I only wish that it was big enough to fit the original prescription bottle inside of it, we have an empty the pills into the safe. I would be concerned about having this outside of my house, without the original pill bottle and its prescription label to prove legal possession of the drug. Here at home we keep the emptied bottle right next to the safe in the same drawer. Perhaps the manufacturer will take the suggestion to produce a model with a large enough diametre to accommodate most prescription bottles?

Solid as a rock
I purchased the stainless metal version and it is much sturdier than I had anticipated. Thick metal throughout that feels heavy in the hand. No issues with it locking or unlocking (make sure the line on the side of the lid lines up with the line in the side of the base and you should have zero issues getting it to lock properly!) and overall it feels very solid. I would assume anyone with zero lock picking knowledge would be too intimidated to attempt to try and access this device and wouldn’t even bother to try and get it open. Perfect for my needs. My only gripe was the locking mechanism itself was slightly loose, but I was able to easily tighten it up by accessing the nut inside the lid. Now it is perfect. Highly recommend.

Sturdy, but not that secure
Let's make one thing clear, this product is not going to stop someone. I ordered the Stainless Steel version. The container itself was surprisingly high quality and hefty. The way the locking mechanism works means that although the lid can't be directly lifted off, it is still possible to twist the lid and then lift it off while it's locked, with a little bit of force that is. Really this container isn't meant to be completely secure, it really ends up just being more of a deterrent than an actually completely secure product. For the purpose of a deterrent, this product does its job and gives the appearance and feel of being secure because of its weight, build quality, and tough-looking design. I chose this product because when looking for a lockable meds container most others look less secure, or were large bulky boxes, so this is probably one of the only decent products if those are the constraints you're working with.

It works as it should
First off, I believe it's sad that anyone would need this, but the sturdiness and ease of use is what drew me to purchase one. A great value for a little peace of mind. I will come back after I have had this longer with an update (only using this for 4 days...) Update: after using this for roughly 6+ weeks this bottle has deterred others than to who the medication was prescribed for from getting into it 🤨 I haven't had any problems using this locked steel container, it's sturdy and a great piece of mind at a decent price. I can see someone with hand tremors having difficulty using this, but the concept is to make it a deterrent for an attempt to easily grab a few pills that one shouldn't be using for illicit purposes. I have found other locked pill bottles (especially the plastic ones with a combination) can and have shown to be easily accessible, IMHO this locked steel container probably isn't a fool proof secured vessel but it's the next best thing to an all out safe or vault bolted in place. For now, this is serving a purpose with the key always on my person.

DO NOT BUY
I have issues with missing meds in the home, or incorrect count. I purchased this, as it seemed like the most secure bedside pill bottle available. It is quite heavy, but that lends to its strength, however I would not carry this in my handbag. I purchased a pill fob that I wear around my neck with the key to this lock on the same chain. This pill locking box is a little difficult to open and you do need to jiggle the key, then turn it. Twist the container and it will open. When closing, place the key into the open position, and align the lid line with the container line, turn the key to lock and remove key. It takes a little practice, but it's worth it. No portable lock is 100%, but for my needs, this is the best I have come across to date. I'm very happy with this product, but be prepared for a little jiggling. I hope this helps me and you. UPDATE: Today, I was having an especially tough time locking the cap on, and I heard something fall to the carpet. I didn't see what fell and couldn't find it. I went to the bureau and more of those "things" fell out, they were pins inside the lock. I don't know how many I lost or what order they would go in for the lock to be used, so this lock was in essence totally useless to me. I had to throw it out. I haven't had it that long. Fortunately for me I have another, so I have one to use while I shop for another. I removed two stars for this. UPDATE: Ok, the second one I had purchased, the locking mechanism had loosened and wobbled like the first one did. It's only a matter of time before the ball bearings fall out again. Although the stainless steel bottle and lock are high quality, the assembly is of the lowest workmanship and this bottle will fall apart in just a matter of hours. I'm done buying this and would remove all the stars if I could. DO NOT BUY.

Cheap, broke in just over a month
First of all the top kept coming loose because its held on with a locking nut on the inside of the cap, I got tired of constantly having to re tighten it so I put super glue under the locking ring and then tightened it really tight which worked. Until I went to unlock it and the locking mechanism just broke and all the pins came out, I didn't have the time or patience to try to put it back together after the other problems. Its a cheap piece of crap, avoid if you can. Too bad, it worked great for the first little bit and was handy to not have to worry about my medicine being taken but when the lock itself literally falls apart in 20 pieces its just not worth it hassle. I'm not the only one who had this problem of the lock failing, check some of the other reviews out too. I'm gonna try the nylon version and see if it holds up any better cause the alternatives Ive seen they want like 80 dollars.
