IELTS Academic Writing: Important Tips & High Scoring Sample Answers! (Written By An IELTS Teacher)

Precise and to the point. If you have no grammar or vocabulary problems, but you struggle with the format and how to answer properly to the Academic IELTS writing test, then this is the perfect guide for you. I needed to go from 6.0 to 6.5 and I had just one week. I followed her advice and it helped me to understand why I wasn't getting those extra 5 points I needed. I received my results this week and now I have what I was looking for. If you want to achieve more than just 6.5 band score, then I recommend you take longer time to prepare than just 1 week as I did. It will take you a lot of practice to achieve more. Remember to consider your grammar and vocabulary skills, because this book is not to learn that, it is to learn how to structure your writing and how to answer properly.

To the point, the author straight gets on with the business. It took me not long to finish the book, and gave me enough to go about give the exam... but make no mistake you still have to practice. I give a full 4 stars...

The book is very basic and doesn't cover any advanced techniques. Much better and comprehensive material is available online and free. Not worth buying.

Very good book. The writer actually delivers really good tips and strategies that only an experienced IELTS teacher would know. And the sample answers make this book well worth buying; they helped me to understand what I was doing wrong.

I bought this book spontaneously, wanting to learn some tips and see some sample essays from an expert. As an IELTS teacher, it's important to hear advice from different voices, but I was extremely disappointed by this author's work. First of all, you won't have to look far to find grammatical and mechanical errors. For a book that seeks to give writing advice, I was really surprised at the number of errors in this author's writing. Apart from the errors in the book, the advice given doesn't go far beyond what can be found online for free. As a fellow teacher specialized in exam preparation, I would not encourage anyone to purchase this book.

The book is written in American English even though the IELTS is a Brittish exam. This isn't surprising since the author is Chilean. There are also some small mistakes in the sample answers. I feel disappointed and regret having bought it even though it was quite cheap. There are better resources on the internet for free.
