Mayhew Tools 37332 Screw Extractor Set, 5-Piece, Black Oxide Finish

These extractors are very good quality. They bite right into the screw or bolt. I used them for removing 4 broken exhaust manifold studs and they worked great. Definitely would recommend them.

It worked great on removing the valve seats on the 3 valve shower stem replacement. They are hard to remove and this tool made it easy.

I am shocked I had a massive bolt that was rust into my grill I was able to extract with these insane bits! Other bits would have sheared off but because of the square profile, they are incredibly beefy I did have to keep sizing up as I could feel the smaller ones starting to flex, but they never broke, I just followed the standard process of drilling larger and larger holes until I was able to pound in the largest boat with a hammer and torque it out. Of course I used heat as well but I was really impressed with the strength of these bits, absolutely worth their price

Extracted a broken spark plug from a minivan. Saved the day. Good product

1/2" head stud broke off in the block of a tractor with about 1" remaining down in the hole. Tried the twist kind, but of course it stripped out. Shopped around for this style extractor and bought this item. The middle size one, which is about 1/4", took the stud out. Twisted it with a 12" pipe wrench while tapping the end of the handle in the direction of rotation to act like an impact. Finally got that broken piece out. Didn't snap, didn't deform, and didn't slip. This is the best type of extractor just have to find a set with good metallurgy. This one has it.

Leaving 3 stars because I haven't used the larger ones yet, but the 1/8 extractor snapped with ease while trying to remove a small corroded bolt. Working in an industrial environment where water and abrasive materials are present. Would have probably worked great on a clean bolt. Definitely is not a heavy duty kit for extreme environments

When I heard that spark plug pop, and the insulator came out in my hands, I thought for sure I was in for an engine head rebuild. I did some research and found out the square easy out tools, where the best bet for something like this because the spiral tools tend to spread out the spark plug threads inside the hole making it harder to remove. This kit showed up within a day. The quality is exceptional. The storage pouch is high-quality. The edges of the tool were very sharp, so I knew they were going to dig in to the threads easily. Of course, the spark plug that broke off was in the most inconvenient place behind the suspension spring. So I had to use a long combination of extensions and a socket designed for square oil pan bolts. see pic. (This is on a Ford F250 so I removed the inner fender-well to gain access to the plugs, thus needing the extensions) I used gorilla tape to secure the socket and easyout bit to the extensions. I also pre-soaked the spark plug threads with PB blaster a few times a day for a few days to loosen up the corrosion. You really have to hammer the easy out in pretty good to get it to bite, and use a very stiff extension. Once I did that, it came right out. I was thrilled. I couldn’t believe it actually had come out. Hallelujah! The clouds parted and the sun shown through (well the moon since I was up til midnight messing with it) This time I made sure to put some copper anti-seize grease on the spark plug threads to make sure the dissimilar metal corrosion couldn’t occur. The combination of an aluminum head with a steel spark plug caused galvanic corrosion (look it up, it’s real) that locked the spark plug into the head. The copper anti-seize provides a barrier that allows the current to flow between the head and the spark plug threads. Highly recommend.

My 05 ford explorer with the 4.6l 2v had a spark plug blow in half with the threaded portion stuck in the head and this tool was just strong enough to get it out. We used the biggest 3/8" extractor with an 8" long 3/8" extention attached backwards with tape and an allen key socket to make a female to female 3/8" adapter on the other end to attach a 3/8" breaker bar and as sketchy as it was the extractor got it out. Would recommend just take your time and use lots of penatrating oil.

This product works. Just remember to use lots of wd40 and really hammer it in there so it can bite the broken spark plug or screw. Amazing amazing amazing 😍

Used the largest size piece from this kit to successfully remove a broken spark plug in a Suzuki DF140 4 stroke outboard. The remnants of the plug were so siezed I had to use a breaker bar. Without a doubt this would have resulted in a spiral type extractor snapping. Very impressed with the product.
