I really like the Lowepro passport sling camera bag.  I took it to Paris and used as a purse/camera bag.  It fit the important things in there.  I had my wallet, a bottle of water, another smaller camera, sunglasses, maps, battery charger and extra SD card in the bag.  I would say that it is kind of theft resistant as well but anyone can find a way to steal things out of a bag no matter what kind.  You just have to keep an eye on it.  Mine made it through snow and rain.  I really like this case and would buy another in a heartbeat.

Will this bag store my D700 with the 70-200mm attached? Thanks!

It would fit laying down on its side no problem. i have a EOS T4i and also have a 70-300 and with the lens attached to the camera it barely fits in the vertical position and the bag would not zipper. However I also carry a 18-135 that fits perfect in the vertical position. Hope this helps.

Honestly - nothing :) Besides the colored piping and the coloring of the inside lining... functionality wise they are exactly the same.  I have the II and I'm super happy with it. It's amazing for travel and everyday even.

Could I fit a 13" macbook pro inside this bag?

I know you are asking about a Macbook pro, but in some of the answers I've seen people comment about it also being a tight fit for an iPad. I've unziped the back so that it can expand for some extra space. I carry my D700 with lense attached plus an extra lens, charger, iphone, iPad Air, keys and sometimes a paper back book without any problem.
