1560 Case With Foam (Black)

Pelican has become the standard in cases, to which all others are compared, and for good reason. They are well built, water-proof, and the included foam allows a custom fit for the items inside. I feel I could drop this case from the loading platform and it would easily protect the contents. This particular case is a bit heavy, so the included retractable handle and wheels make for easy transport. They are a bit pricey, but when you want the best protection, these cases are well worth the price. I'm using this case for my audio mixer and accessories, and feel confident that they are well protected. Moving them from our practice space to gigs is easy as everything fits in one place. Highly recommended.

Things I really like: The hinges are sort of "staged," so the lid will stay up. This is nice because it then doesn't strain the hinges as sometimes happens when the lid falls backward. The case is far larger than I had expected, and it might actually be TOO large for my uses. I had a hard time finding something that was big enough to have a handle and wheels. It is very deep, too, and the pick-and-pluck comes in two separate layers that are a few inches each. They are easily cut with a very sharp knife and retain most of their integrity even when cut to be fairly thin, so, as long as you keep a width of at least two "blocks" between separate cut-outs/voids in the case, the foam is fairly strong. Only thing I dislike is the wobbly extension handle (like a wheely suitcase)-- it seems sturdy enough but it is very flexible, and I'm wondering how it will hold up if the case is jammed full of heavy stuff. Still a five-star deal all around. :)

This case works exactly for what I needed. The interior foam is easy to cut/tear to the exact size for whatever you are carrying. I like that it has four layers of foam, two of which are three inches thick and can be cut out to shapes. What I carry requires two levels of parts and these layers of foam work perfectly. Be ready to open it up when going through airport security. Any hard case is a "red flag" to TSA. Even though it has holes for putting locks, don't bother with the TSA locks... they will get lost or broken. I like the pull out handle and roller wheels to make it a Pullman-like case. Much easier to transport. So far, it has held up very well during six business trips. Pelican has a wide variety of choices to get just the size you need. They are pricy, but worth it.

Purchased this in the hopes of safely transporting my small PC on vacation for gaming/movies away from home. Exceptional customization to fit my rig and additional equipment with room to spare. Was surprised at the padding thickness on the non customizable exterior walls and the added protection they give. Never had the misfortune of getting it wet, so I can't speak to its water resistance capabilities. Rollers and handle seem beefy AF and I expect to be able to use this thing for several years to come!

Great case! I got the pick and pluck foam. My only complaint is I just wish it had some sort of compartments under the foam on the lid for some batteries or small wires etc... Im a photographer and so far fit 2 Bodies, 70-200mm, 100mm, 50mm, 15mm, 24-105mm. 85mm, 2 580exII flashes, sekonic light meter, 2 pocket wizards, 1pocket wizard mini transmitter and receiver, shutter release, batteries, 2 battery charges. I still have 9-% of the bottom layer to fill when new gear is added to the collection. Its strong as all hell and there is 0 movement of my gear inside. I feel very very safe hauling my gear anywhere. I might even consider checking this case when I fly. With some heavy duty locks on it of course ;)

This makes a great portable gear/tool box! Mine arrived with the foam, but that isn't something I needed, so out it came. Thankfully, there was no adhesive anchoring the foam to the case itself, unlike a coworker of mine who had an unsightly residue left in his. It's big enough to hold a full body harness + climbing and rigging gear, and a coil of rope sits comfortably around the handle when it is extended. Some days it will be holding roughly 70lbs, but the case is sturdy enough to not even notice the weight. The handle in the extended position also nicely accommodates a backpack with SRB on the straps, which can be wrapped around and locked back into themselves. These 1560s and 1510s are becoming more and more common among my coworkers for personal gear, and I can now see why! Some of the ones I see around are several years old now, and I can say for a fact that they have not been treated gently in the slightest, yet they just keep going. While I have no intention of following his lead, my work and travel partner for 5 months last year regularly subjected his Pelican to what I thought of as clear abuse: Throwing it over relatively low fences, tossing it around in trucks, dragging it through the mud, up and down stairs, ect. Traveling with this fellow was like living in an ad based on a torture test of this product at times. I was very impressed by how well it took the abuse, and kept coming back for more! Also, most of these that you see around are black, so the silver (more gray really) is a nice switch, and retains the neutral color required for my job. Will definitely recommend.
