Perfecter vs.John Frieda Salon Shape
This review compares the Perfecter to "John Frieda Salon Shape 1.5 Inch Hot Air Brush". I vastly prefer the Perfector over the "Salon Shape". I have long, fine, color treated hair. The Perfector works on dry hair. The Freida Salon Shape's biggest disadvantage is that it requires that hair be WET to work. So the Salon Shape is inconvenient to use for a quick touch-up, or say after work when going out. The Salon Shape merely gives the same results on my hair as a brush and blowdryer - but because it is a self-contained unit, it can be done one handed and is much easier to use than a brush-plus-blow-dryer. However, the Salon Shape requires repeated strokes to get a curl (like a blow dryer) and the curl did not hold on my fine, straight hair. (It may be good for straightening??) The curl from the Perfecter only requires one stroke - and lasted much longer! Also, using the Perfector at my roots added nice volume that lasted all day. I did NOT notice improved "shine" from EITHER product. The "Salon Shape" does not require warm-up time (but it still takes longer to use). The Perfector requires warm-up time - but that is usually under one minute! For straight fine hair, I recommend the Perfector...to me it is worth the extra money. Anyone wanna buy a slightly used "Salon Shape?"

Makes hair look salon finished
I bought this 3 years ago, and it's still going strong, I cannot believe I didn't initially write a review. I am mixed with chemically straightened hair. I use a flat iron on the root of my hair to 3 inches down, so as not to damage my ends(the roots regenerate) I then use the perfector to go over the entire body of my hair.I either bend the ends or roll it up to get more curl. As one reviewer showed it can get stuck in your hair. This happened to me twice (in 3 years) the first time, I got my hair free, no loss, last month though I lost a small clump. I was just more careful after that, be sure you don't have any stray pieces, keep it in line, as you roll up, roll down a bit, ensuring there is some give . It makes my hair so soft and full, even though I have thick hair, compliments abound, people think I get my hair professionally done.

Ok, So I USED to be a Skeptic...
Alright, I was SO SKEPTICAL of this...but I saw a similar product on QVC (for literally over twice the price) and I figured, what the heck! I am TERRIBLE at using beauty products, and I have always avoided curling irons because I am convinced I will burn myself. This was the perfect alternative! It does not, and cannot burn you, while still providing a soft curl. It is pretty loose, and my hair does not hold curl well, but with a bit of hairspray it is a (relatively) natural look that lasts pretty much all day. Every time I show up at my parents' house having used this first, my mom compliments me on my hair...which usually never happens. The only reason I am going for 4 stars is because if you aren't careful, your hair WILL get stuck (or at least mine, which is medium length and relatively thin). Though this only happened the first time I used it. I turned it off and had my roommate help me, but we got it out in a matter of minutes--no big deal. Since then, it has only happened once or twice, and not nearly as badly. Practice makes perfect I guess. This is a great started curling iron for those who do not want a strong curl, or who are looking to avoid being burned.

I love it
In this year of covid, I have turned my attention to playing with my hair (and eating, but that's another conversation). I bought Hot Tools to dry hair faster, but it's not good for styling, so I thought I would try this tool. After I burned my hand touching the band (totally my fault), I read the instructions! So, this is not a blow dryer type appliance, which I would have known if I'd read the instructions FIRST, before I purchased! That said, use only on dry hair, but I put a smidge of argon oil in my hair after I blow dried it (it looked dry), and that made hair greasy looking. On the other hand, my hair looks gorgeous, like movie star gorgeous (which I ain't) so I am very happy. Just, after you wrap (a thin-ish strand of hair-practice) DON'T PULL IT OUT-just GENTLY unwrap and you won't burn hair. And watch out, it is very fast-seconds. After using, my hair was so curly, I had to put a hat on to calm it down. There's a learning curve but nothing major, just like, not reading instruction s ;-)) FYI, the other people's pictures are accurate. It really is a very good tool.

Works fine but no automatic off
This is a knock off of the Calista Hair Perfecter that offers excellent shine, smoothness and bounce. I'm not sure this product is made the same way but it does work fine as a round brush hair curling iron and it will not burn your hands while using it. It's a little less expensive and my old Calista finally used up its life. I bought it because I needed something fast. But, there is no automatic off so if you leave it on, it stays on. There is no carrying case, no brush, no clips like the Calista product comes with.

Great curler
It works great. I bought this as a replacement for my first one. Curling irons just don't last 25 years anymore with regular use like my old ones did. That being said I really like this one for ease of use, fast heating, great curls, and having NO clip. I have very fine hair and the wide brush holds my hair so it doesn't slip. I also don't get burned because of the brush keeping the iron just away from my skin. It's all good.

Exactly like the more expensive one!
I used to have the more expensive "perfector" that I'd seen advertised on TV - used it until it wore out. Tried another less expensive brush curling iron, and was not happy with the results or the fact that I could burn myself. I was a little hesitant to try this one since it's so much less than the other one...but because Amazon has a great return policy, I figured I didn't have anything to lose. And....I'm so glad I did!! This works EXACTLY the same as the more expensive version! Heats up quickly, won't burn me - and doesn't get tangled (I saw some reviews saying that their hair got tangled, but if you follow the directions and only turn it in one direction, it's not an issue). Love this new hair tool! I get lots of compliments on how nice my hair looks!

the Perfecter I purchased looked exactly like the one my friend let me use
When I purchased, I assumed the "brush" was made with normal brush bristles, not synthetic. I had no idea that it wasn't. Therefore, the results I get from using it are far from what they would be if the bristles were authentic, brush bristles. I was interested in purchasing the perfecter after using a friend's, Perfecter by Calista Tools" while on vacation several months ago. I was thrilled with the results. While searching on Amazon, the Perfecter I purchased looked exactly like the one my friend let me use. I had no idea it wasn't the same at all. That's what I get for "assuming"!!!

Very easy to use and gives desired effect quickly.
Only negative is that it didnโt come with a case to protect it for travel.

Heats up fast and easy to use - recommend
This styler heats up fast and holds the heat - it doesn't fluctuate or shut off mid curling/styling. Very happy with the size and the swivel cord.
