Great Label Machine
Whether you are printing wire flags or heat shrink wire labels this label machine is worth the extra cost. It works well with very little instruction needed. The menus allow you to easily choose the type of label and your text size and direction. My control panels look much more professional using these labels. Features like auto numbering and patch panel printing allow me to complete the labels faster than I have in the past. Whatever industry you are in, there is likely a label function built into this machine for your needs.

Good Reliability based on past experience.
Note : this version is bare bones, no charger, no lithium battery ... as I expected. (includes one cartridge.) This is a replacement for my older one which is going on 10 years and power up has recently been intermittent, but working most of the time. A pretty well made device .. works well with the OEM Labels. My only issues in 10 yrs have been with faulty OEM label cartridges. I have case, charger and battery left from the older unit.

Great for Warehousing/Logistics
As part of my company’s initiative for LEAN, this was purchased to further the need for refinement and continuous improvement. We have used this to barcode label mission critical applications in the warehouse and anywhere else in need of clarification. The non-qwerty keyboard is a bit frustrating to use at first but over time it becomes less cumbersome. The interface for finding symbols is not intuitive. There is a learning curve and a bit of experimentation is needed to understand the nuances of the device. The package came with label stock and some additional non-oem label stock was purchased. The OEM label stock worked perfectly in the device. There were no traceable skips in printing. 3/4” label stock is the perfect size for what we’re doing and is visible with very little effort. The package came with 1/2” stock as well and proved to be useful but not to the degree of the 3/4”. The non-oem label stock did encounter intermittent label printing skips and streaks. Although a bit disappointing the quality was satisfactory to a degree. Adhesion of both label stocks has been well received and to date, no labels have been reported to fall, shear off, or get destroyed. Our IT department has been using the printer to record IP addresses on each workstation for their purposes and with the dirt and grime the labels encounter every day, they have held up remarkably well. I’m sure we will have to relabel on occasion but from what I have seen, it will be on a case by case basis and not a carte blanche relabeling effort. With the unit being built for the “warehouse life” I can say the unit has still functioned after being dropped numerous times. Although the plastic feels rigid to the touch, it has proven itself to be strong enough to withstand the daily use by our LEAN warehouse staff. Scuffs, scrapes, drops, and breaks are rarely avoidable but I believe this unit is up to the challenge based on what I’ve seen. Overall a good product even though it is one of DYMO’s lower cost alternatives. Still believe the frustration of the UI being implemented and the keyboard design was an interesting decision made by their developer team, issues aside, the device functions and performs as desired and advertised.

Great product but battery issues
I'll start out by saying that I really like the labels that this creates. I've purchased a few different tapes, including 2 different heat shrink cartridges, and they all work really well. This has the ability to do patch panels and punchdowns and it manages all the real estate on the label. It also has symbols and is overall pretty versatile. I like the device a lot. I would have probably given this 5 stars except for the battery. I saw another commenter say that the rechargeable battery doesn't fit. It does fit but it's weird in that it goes in at the opposite direction of the AA batteries, if you use those. I understand how the confusion gets created as there are really no instructions. My complaint is that the battery doesn't charge. I'm guessing the battery is defective at some level. It seems to charge a tiny bit but never gets above one bar. Then, as I'm using it, it might go up to two bars for a few minutes and then back down. Update on March 15: As I've used this (and left it charging) over the past several days the battery indicator has eventually started to show higher charge. It's not that the battery ever died - it may have been fully charged - but the indicator showed no charge or maybe one bar. It's a little weird but the thing seems OK now and it works great on lots of label types. I've used labels and shrink tube, I've used wire, cable, general and patch panel settings. All work really nicely.

Works awesome and perfect for shop stuff/organizing/automotive Very very user friendly, im the least techy person there is and I had this up and running in less than 1 minute. Comes with 110 plug, a rechargeable battery pack, AND ACCEPTS AA battery. Very well thought out and heavy duty!

Where was this 10 years ago? How did I get by without it?
I work in IT and electronics. I have a lot of wires, setup, components and a lot more that needs labeling. For 2 decades my trusted "Brother" label maker did an OK job, but there were lots of issues. Fonts for one thing - cannot write ohms, superscript or a lot more outside the traditional A-Z - and even if the symbol existed, it's way hard to find unless you use it often. I also had to look very careful to ensure the settings were set right. I looked for a better solution and came across the DYMO - on the pricy side but it sold me on the ability to print on shrink wrap - something I still have to test. Because when it arrived, I was BLOWN AWAY with how easy it was to create cable labels, patch panel labels, control fonts, sizing and dimensions. Heck, I can tell it how wide I want my label and it automatically adjusts the size of the print to fit! It saves so much time. It's rugged, rechargable, extremly easy to change labels with (The Brother model often ate labels requiring clearing and "fixes"). I can have very wide labels in this, very narrow and just be productive. It's got extensive fonts for all kinds of jobs, including electronics and cable labels. You can even print out bar-codes! The only thing it may need is the ability for me to upload a file with a ton of data I need printed on labels, but I'm sure it's there - I just haven't found it yet. Another thing I love is when you print copies, it stops between each copy so you can cut the label. No more scissors! Well worth the price! Edit: I still like the model - after 6 months it's made creating labels for electronical stuff much easier. That said, a few draw-backs that I've come to learn. You cannot modify the space between label prints. While I appreciate the space between the label content and the cut makes it a very nice centered label, I end up with a lot of wasted label - for a lot of my labels more than half of the label roll is wasted this way. And you cannot reduce it. In particular when I need to print a series of values, I cannot use the "insert" because I get a huge space between each label. I want to simply print a long list a cut them myself. However, as I need to print two numbers on each print separated by new-line (a wonderful feature) there's really no option with this label maker. I will have to use my old Brother label maker to do this without a huge label waste. Another feature that I have found missing is the lack of sub/super script. You cannot write exponents which is really helpful in some use-cases but there's no options with the 5200 to do this. You have symbols with 2 and 3 in superscript but that's it. All in all, I'm still very happy with this but I had to adjust my rating down one star to clarify a few "glaring" missing features.

Great labeler, especially for field installs
This is pretty decent from a small sampling. I was very concerned about the amount of waste, as I've had labelers in the past be very wasteful. This label maker is small, efficient with the buttons, and the display is easy to read. The fact the label maker will recharge an included battery is very nice. I've opted to load it with 6 rechargeable batteries, and keep the included battery as a backup. My only dissatisfaction is the inability for the labeler to detect the cartridge tape size. I'd add a few dollars to the cost of the unit, and a few cents to each cartridge for automatic detection; and be happier with the product. The included labels are kind of crappy, and have a crease in them. I've only bought two shrink wrap label cartridges, so maybe it's not a very good cross section on my part. So far I am very happy with the build quality and ease of use. This unit, does, thankfully have a manual cutter. The option to print consecutively and cut with scissors after is a nice way to save on waste.
