I was looking for an added safety feature to use on my front door while I am inside, especially while I am sleeping. This one caught my attention, especially the fact that it is small enough to travel with. But don't let its size fool you. It is very sturdy and, when properly installed, it will be nearly impossible to push a door open. I was very surprised when I read the reviews and saw many saying it did not work. The site also stated that this is a frequently returned item. And yet I took a chance and ordered it. This is an amazing product and I believe I know why many say it does not work and have returned it. THEY DID NOT INSTALL IT PROPERLY!!! I know because the first couple of times I tried to install it it would not stay in place. So I continued trying until I finally figured it out and installed it correctly and securely. So here are my step by step instructions of how I installed it successfully. (Take a look at my photos) And you do not need any tools to do this: The box comes with the jammer, a key ring of rubber spacers, an additional base part that needs to be used for doors that have a high clearance and a handy carrying case. 1) On the ring find a rubber spacer that will fit snuggly at the top of the door. You do not need to remove them from the ring. In my case I used 2 together to fill the gap. The reason for the rubber spacers is to hold the alignment of the door in place as the jammer pushes the door from the bottom. Insert the spacer at the top of the door on the opposite end of were the door where the hinges are (On the opposite end of where the hinges are, this is crucial). 2) Make sure the the screw base end of the jammer is screwed all the way in. 3) At the bottom of the door, on the opposite end of the hinge area ( again, crucial), insert the jammer. The L shaped bracket of the jammer goes beneath the door and it must be held firmly and flush against the door while you turn the base screw. This is where the installation goes wrong, if the bracket is not held flush against the door! I just held it in place with my thumb. The L shaped bracket needs to be held in place while you do the next step. 4) Now slowly turn the base screw. The screw will begin to press against the floor at the same time is presses the jammer into the door. Keep holding the jammer securely against the door until the base screw will no longer turn. Now remove your hand from the jammer and try opening the door. If you have done it correctly that door will not move a centimeter and the jammer cannot be pulled away from the door. The negative reviews and the returns of this item could be easily eliminated if clear and concise instructions came with the product. There are no instructions provided for the end user. I had to sort of figure it out on my own. I have seen more and more of this practice in the last few years. You receive a product and have no idea on how to use it. The Seller ends up getting lousy reviews and the items keep getting returned. Us consumers end up passing up on possible good, useful products because the reviews say it does not work. And the reviews say it does not work because they do not know the proper way to use it. It a vicious cycle. SELLERS, INSTRUCTIONS, SEND US INSTRUCTIONS. It is a shame in this case because this jammer really, really works and is the perfect solution to the added safety and security I was looking for. So if you follow MY INSTRUCTIONS, you will be able to increase the security of any door in your home or place of work. Good luck!

good proct; works on regular doors only' not sliding doors

I bought this to use when I travel. I wanted to give myself a little bit more safety while I am in my room asleep. Out of all of the similar devices that I have seen for sale, this one seemed to me to be the easiest to put on the door and take off. It also seemed to have the highest number of quality reviews, which is something I always look for when purchasing a product.. The device seems to be well made, and from what I have tried at home, it’s easy to install and take off. It also is able to maintain the door secure without slipping or sliding. I have not yet used it for travel. (I plan to do it later this year.). However, if the tests that I have conducted with it at home or any indication, I think it is gonna work just as I intended, and as advertised.

This works perfectly! I used when traveling and it made it through TSA security check with no issues and after installing I could even crack open my door in the hotel. Slept like a baby since I felt safe. Would highly recommend.

i dont like it very weak

I picked up the DJ3 Portable Door Lock Brace back in August 2024, and let me tell you, this little gadget has become my ultimate travel buddy. It’s the best thing to happen to my peace of mind since I discovered noise-canceling headphones on a long-haul flight full of crying babies. First of all, the installation is so easy, even I could do it without consulting YouTube. Seriously, it’s like the IKEA of door locks—minus the confusing instructions and leftover screws. You just pop it under the door handle, and voilà, instant fortress mode activated! I felt like a secret agent securing my hotel room, ready to take on the world (or at least the room service delivery guy). This lock brace is compact enough to fit in my carry-on, sandwiched between my travel snacks and that novel I swear I’ll finish someday. It’s like carrying a tiny bouncer with you, ready to stand guard at any door. Whether I’m in a hotel, an Airbnb, or that questionable roadside motel (don’t ask), this little hero keeps me feeling safe and sound. The real magic happened during my last trip. There I was, in my hotel room, indulging in a true-crime documentary binge when I heard a mysterious noise outside. My imagination went wild—was it a ghost? A burglar? Just someone who got lost looking for the ice machine? Thanks to my trusty DJ3, I didn’t even flinch. I just sat back, sipped my overpriced minibar soda, and let the lock do its thing. Even at home, I’ve found a use for it. My cat, Mr. Whiskers, has a habit of barging in while I’m trying to enjoy some “me time.” Not anymore! The DJ3 keeps him out, and I get to enjoy my bath without an audience. In short, the DJ3 Portable Door Lock Brace is my knight in shining armor—or rather, my knight in compact, easy-to-install form. If you want to travel with confidence or just keep your cat at bay, this is your go-to gadget. It’s like having a little security guard in your pocket, minus the judgmental looks when you come back to your room with a second dessert.

The unit is sturdy but the top rubber strip (where it makes contact with the door) has already faded after a few uses. Also, the metal lock brace foot which holds against the floor tends to slip out slowly after a few hours. A few times the brace actually came loose before I wanted to remove.

Not so good on thicker carpets

This product is great and works exactly as it should. I have high gloss tiles and have no problem with it sliding along the tiles if someone is trying to open the door on the other side. It adheres well to my tiles and doesn’t move at all, thereby preventing entry by someone.
