where does one find the instructions on how to use this color wheel?

Good afternoon, Thank you for reaching out to us. The instructions/explanation for The Finisher's Color Wheel are on the back of the color wheel. It helps both the novice and professional finisher understand how colors affect each other. The Color Concepts, Inc side has the outer circle swatch and the inner circle swatch, and when lined up a third color appears in the window below. It is based on a 3 (inner color) to 1 (outer color) scale. The Finisher's Color wheel side of the smaller wheel has a 5-color intensity scale and as they go towards the middle they vary and lighten depending on the amount of clear base that was added. Is there a color wheel for stone work?

I see the chart reflects the stains on birch...can it be used on other woods? I'm trying to match old aged knotty pine on new knotty pine.

Of course it can be used on other woods. The identification of the wood used (birch) is only for reference. Most birch has the same color and tone; hence it gives an indication of the color of the stain.

Worked Great

I was trying to match a finish on a quilt rack that was more than 20 years old. I used General Finishes Enduro RTM Water Based Wood Stain and it worked great. The color was dead on. I definitely recommend this for someone who like myself is a little lost in mixing colors to match stain.

Where's the Cardboard?

I'm joining others in their disappointment that this is not better made. This is such a helpful tool. It needs to be printed on more substantial material, especially considering the fact that it costs so much.

First off, this is NOT a Mohawk product. The colors on the wheel are “standard stain colors”. It definitely is not a complete sampling of colors. I like the idea of the product but it could be improved. You can find it cheaper elsewhere

It is expensive for what it does. Needs to be updated . I ended up returning it because it wasn’t as useful as I thought. Then again it could be me, but there’s so many stains out there I was still confused on what went together nicely lol

Printed cardboard. Worth maybe a couple of dollars, not $21.20. Also, arrived folded and creased. Returning.
