Herman Miller Sayl Chair, Crepe Licorice

I finally got my HM chair that I wanted to get for a long time. I had no other choice. Since we are teleworking, I needed a good chair to be fair to myself. I have never had a chair so comfortable, and I am comparing this to my work chairs throughout the years which have been either HM or steelcase. This chair is simple and spot on. My back is so supported and hugged that makes my entire body in perfect alignment. The seat is not super soft, but that is probably a good thing. I only wish I could forward the arms tiny bit, but well, this chair is only hight adjustable (which I knew about). I do not think lumbar support adjustment would serve me in any way, because I am not that tall(5"5') and the chair is perfect as it is for me. I played with adjusment little bit. This chair is so much fun. I love that the design of this chair is inspired by golden bridge. Knowing this makes me love thus chair even more. (and I am Californian 😉) I never would imagine I would love this chair that much, because there are so many chairs out there from the same brand (or similar), that is so attempting to get. I recommend this chair, without hazitation. Get a good chair, you need this.

This is the first fancy chair that I've actually purchased; though, I've used some pretty good ones at various jobs. I've had my eye on it since sitting in one at Room and Board years ago. The comfort is equal to or better than any other office chair I've sat in. Options: - adjustable arms: I'd definitely go for these - adjustable seat depth: consider getting the adjustable one if you have longer legs, but since I'm not particularly tall (5'8"), it wasn't worth the extra money - adjustable lumbar support: the lumbar support is already perfect for me, so there was no reason for me to pay for this. - casters: the stock casters are 2.5" that are meant for carpet only. I purchased the 2.5" hard floor/carpet casters separately since Amazon doesn't seem to sell this chair with anything other than the stock casters The seat cushion feels medium firm; it feels firm enough that it won't deflate after only a year but soft enough to be comfortable. The plastic mesh backing allows for good airflow, feels sturdy enough to last years, and encourages proper posture. It swivels silently and smoothly. I've read complaints of squeaking, but mine has remained silent after a few months of use. I'd definitely recommend trying this out in a store to make sure it's comfortable for you before purchasing as I could see features such as the adjustable seat depth and lumbar support as being useful for taller people, and I could also see how the backing might not be comfortable for everyone. While this chair isn't cheap, it's a lot cheaper than other Herman Miller chairs (or other fancy office chairs), and you can get a good deal if you purchase this around Black Friday time. Also, this chair arrives fully assembled, so the box is HUGE!

Very comfortable. I wish I would have gone with all of the options like seat depth adjustment and arm rest in and out adjustments but overall it is a very nice chair. Very good back support.

This chair has done wonders for my back in a week. I can work for four hours straight without laming my back. I do like having the adjustable arms, which were $75 extra, because they allow me to rest my elbows and hold a book up high level with my eyes when I’m checking sources. I am 6’ tall and 260 lbs., and the chair is very comfortable .

The second I sat in this chair my lower back immediately felt relief. The chair comes fully assembled. It literally roles out of the box ready to use. It was the coolest thing. I am short, 5'3 on a good day, the unadjustable 16in seat depth is perfect. The adjustable lumbar support does not seem to be needed for me, results may vary depending on your height. The seat cushion is amazing. The back of the chair is amazing. You can't tell there is a bunch of holes or anything. I havent had it long enough to comment on how durable this is but I can't imagine any issues occurring, especially with the herman miller warranty. If your on the edge about this chair bite the bullet and get it. It's the cheapest herman miller chair and my favorite chair I've ever owned.

Ordered with prime and got it here in a couple of days! Instead of the 7 weeks quoted delivery time from HM website. Like some others stated, the chair came in a huge box already assembled. The adjustable arm rest proven to be more useful then I expected. The padding on the cushion is not soft, kind of firm but after extended length of seating is very comfortable and doesn’t cause discomfort on my back or bottom. I don’t think I need to say anything about the design, it’s probably the main reason you’d buy a Herman Miller.

This is one of the comfiest desk chairs I've ever owned, but for the drastic price point I would expect some better craftsmanship; a little over a year of use and the material around the arm is coming lose, tearing, fraying. Something feels very wrong about gorilla gluing fabric on a $600 chair. It's not like I'm doing gymnastics in this thing, I literally just sit in it.

am 5'2'' and about 115 lbs. at my height, fixed seat is absolutely fine. had no idea, though, how much i'd appreciate the adjustable-height armrests. such a little thing, but makes a huge difference for me, letting my shoulders relax as i'm working. no, this chair does not come w/ the *full* range of adjustable elements, but truth be told, i don't feel like i'm "missing" anything -- even the lumbar support bar (which *can* be purchased separately, if desired). all in all, i genuinely feel the money i spent on this chair was *money well spent*. not to mention that beautiful design... ;-)
