How can I be sure the door is secure? It doesn’t look like it is anymore than a handle from the pics/video.

The handle is very secure and not flimsy. It is a very good strong carrier for my 2 cats. Hope this helps.

Can the cat get through gap on front door?

There’s no gap - the front is all clear plastic. When that door is opened, the whole door swings open, so plenty of room for the cat to get in or out. The cat can be put in or taken out either by the front door, or by unclipping the roof and the two sides fold down.

I have an 8kg ragdoll, is the carrier heavy before the cat even goes in? TIA

It's not particularly heavy. We bought it for our 6kg cat. The door opening is wide so it's easy to get him in the carrier even when he is resisting. We have had several other carriers and have found this one the best

Is this suitable for airline travel in the hold. Will it pass the airline requirements.

I'm Sorry I can't help you, we used it for use on Car Ferry's, you would have to ask the airline, but we liked it a lot, and purchased 2 of them, one each for our two cats, one of its good points is that the food tray can be refilled, food and water without opening the door. I would recommend that after you've assembled the carrier, use some tape around the handle this will ensure it doesn't come apart, and also makes it comfortable to carry. Hope this helps
