Covatec Stomahesive 1 oz. Protective Powder (Pack of 2)

I used this to help heal the granulation tissue around my sons g-tube site. It is excellent. I am so glad I found out about it because without it I don't think it would have healed so quickly or healed at all. In my sons case I didn't sting when applied as some other reviewers suggested. My son does not speak but I think that even if it stung somewhat, even that's preferable over having the granulation tissue continually wet which also hurts. This product is a powder that works by keeping the granulation tissue dry from whatever contents leak out of the stomach so that it can heal. Granulation tissue cannot heal if it is constantly wet. Honestly, I don't know why hospitals don't inform patients about beneficial products that can be purchased for a very reasonable price on Amazon.

This (along with switching to 3M Micropore paper tape against the skin and overlaid with 3M Transopore tape for strength and holding power) has virtually eliminated my skin excoriation issues around my stoma. However, it must be used properly: One; thoroughly clean the area down to bare skin. Dry. Two; apply skin prep. Dry. Now generously dust with powder and let sit for a bit. Dust excess off by blowing or with hair dryer. Three; apply another layer of skin prep; I enthusiastically recommend the spray application Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film - 28 ml Spray - Pack of 2 Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film spray. Dry. Now apply wafer apparatus. Do not skip step three and most importantly, dry the skin completely between steps. I have discovered that the best way to dry the skin thoroughly (and blow off excess powder) is to use an old simple hair dryer that will blow very low heat or just air. Gets the skin really dry quickly and still leaves a thin layer of powder.

This is a great product for the care and maintenance of those who must take nourishment via feeding tube. As often happens in the life of a feeding tube, leaks happen. This product which acts as a seal or gasket around the g-tube works wonderfully to stop leaks!!! I love this product and I buy it 2 at a time to make sure we are never without.

I came across this product online saying it would be good for stubborn diaper rash and my 6 week old son has had a rash for 4 weeks, no other product could clear up. I used this stoma powder with Calazime cream on top and was able to clear his terrible rash in a couple of days. We will definitely be keeping this and stock for any rashes in the future!

I was consistently battling with my feeding tube stoma growing granulation tissue. I was using mepilex transfer gauze and critic aid cream. Regular gauze always tears up my site. This technique didn’t totally eliminate the granulation tissue. But once i started using this stoma powder, it got rid of every bit of the tissue and now my stoma doesn’t drain the green wound leakage anymore! In fact it doesn’t leak at all anymore. I will swear by this stuff now!

I purchased this powder to put on my Mom’s tummy so the plastic ring (that she is allergic to) would be kept away from her skin. It has been a huge Blessing for us. It has worked extremely well. Since she has to be fed through a PEG (feeding) tube so there was not a choice as to her having the plastic ring that keeps the feeding tube in place.
