I freakin' love it
I love drinking coffee from a mug versus a sealed stainless steel tumbler but my coffee always gets cold before I finish it :( Not anymore! This mug keeps it warm to the last drop. It will stay charged for about an hour so great for when I run to a meeting, otherwise I just keep it setting on the saucer charger while I am at my desk. My only wish was that I could keep it a smidge warmer and also it heats from the bottom so the coffee at the bottom is really warm versus the top. I learned to just keep a spoon or stir stick handy to give it a quick stir. The set up is really easy and the mug is a really nice quality. If I win the lottery I am totally buying another one to use at home!

Perfect! Something to keep both Mom and her drink warm!
I bought this for my mother for Christmas, and since then have received multiple messages and pictures about her using and loving it. In a sense, this review is really from her---she says it is the best/most intelligently packaged product she has ever seen, even more so than a smart phone. It does its job perfectly, and keeps her beverage whatever temperature she desires perpetually, and is easy to clean and charge. I bought it after one of my coworkers heaped similar praises on it; their only caveat was that you should be careful how long you keep cream hot in your cup! All in all, a perfect gift for the ongoing theme of "Keep Mom Warm". :)

It works perfectly.
I purchased an Embers mug several years ago and it was nothing but trouble. It was difficult to pair and kept loosing the connection. I returned it but I was disappointed because I thought it was a great concept. When I saw that it now came in a larger size and had very favorable reviews I decided the try it again. I couldn’t be happier this time. I drink my coffee slowly so the constant temperature works perfectly for me. The mug stays cool to the touch on the outside and the handle should feel comfortable for any hand size. I use it every day for several cups of great coffee so I feel it’s worth the price.

Only worth it if you drink sitting in one spot. (UPDATED 5/20/20)
Update #2: I have to admit, I've reconciled my expectations a bit, and it's pretty solid. With some recent software updates and a few months in, I'm happy. I don't use it on the weekends when I'm roaming about the house, but especially now when only working from home, and keeping it on the charging stand, it's been a good product. So be it if the temperature isn't always 100% accurate, or sometimes the app can't connect to the mug first try (even then it defaults to the 135 degrees preset), my coffee/tea is still steaming 40 minutes later while I zone out at the desk. If you're working from home, and you have the cash to spend, I'd go for it. As long as you don't think you're going to be able to sit outside with it for an hour as you read the newspaper (it will run out of battery)... UPDATE: In my review I mentioned the temperature discrepancy, which I can confirm happens on occasion. I'll open the app and the temp reads 139. I'll use a digital thermometer and it reads ~120. So what I try first is to turn off and on the mug. Usually that does it. The temp reads much lower and works on bringing it back up to the preferred temp. Today it happened, and upon reset it thought the drink was even hotter, like 144. So I had to pour out the contents into a microwave safe mug, reheat for 30 seconds and then poured it back into the mug that now read Empty on the app. Once the contents were registered, the temp was corrected to 125, and is now working its way back up. The thesis being, sometimes the mug can't accurately gauge the temperature of the beverage. ...It still works how it should 90% of the time, and again I'm using it in my office so I can keep it charged throughout the day, so I'm going to keep it. But damn, something that is 129 dollars should work better than this does. PROS: If you can find a practical spot to keep the charging base while you drink... - it keeps your drinks hot When the app actually connects with the mug: - the UI is clean and easy, and there are some neat custom settings you can set up. CONs - battery life is pretty short if you are just walking around with the mug and/or don't feel like unplugging and re-plugging the base in everytime you move somewhere. - the app pretty consistently requires a restart, bluetooth restart and mug power cycle to connect, after setting it up for the first time. - there is a chance that after a week my mug isn't accurately keeping temp. UPDATE: seems to have been a fluke. Temp is reading correctly. THESIS: If you have the money burning a hole in your pocket and you think you'll be chilling at your desk, go ahead and grab a mug. If this is something you saved up for, by a hydro flask and use the rest of the money on a nice night out for yourself. Keep reading for a more in-depth explanation: My wife and I have only had these mugs for a week. She's definitely returning hers, and I'm on the fence. We bought the v1 14oz mug, so maybe the 10oz v2 is better? Our logic at the time was, ok sure the 10 oz mug has a longer battery life, but it's 10 oz of liquid keeping hot at a time, after a few sips it's gone anyway. If you are getting the 14oz version, here is the only way the mug is worth it: You have it at your office or somewhere that you spend most of the time drinking your beverage. That's the case for me, and wasn't for my wife. Off of the coaster/charging base from 100% battery to 4% took about 35-40 minutes. So that was a bummer to learn. To charge it back up takes a while. And the base needs to be plugged in to charge. In a perfect world the base would be like true wireless headphone cases, it can re-charge a few times before needing to be plugged in. Until that happens, if you're someone that walks around with your morning coffee while you do chores or read the paper, this isn't going to be a fun time for you. I work from home and I keep the base in my office. That way I can keep a beverage warm indefinitely. In that setting the mug is pretty cool. I've been in a meeting, or walked away for a bit and the drink is the same temp. Which is why I'm on the fence about keeping it. The biggest issue that is pushing me towards returning the mug is the app. The UI is fine, but it connects to your phone via bluetooth and the thing ALWAYS has connectivity issues. Ember acknowledges as much, but having to troubleshoot your bluetooth, and restart the app and mug every day is a hassle. And worse today, the temp is off. This isn't something I've noticed consistently but this morning I was drinking my tea and it seemed cooler than 140 degrees where I leave it. I restarted the app, and it still read 140. Maybe it's me, and I'm getting used to hotter drinks? I used a digital thermometer and it came up as 120! if I touched the bottom it went up to 125, but I'm concerned about the drink's temp not the temp of the base. And 20 degrees is a pretty crazy amount to be off. I'm going to brew some more and give this test another shot, because this is the first time I've experienced this. Aaaaanyway, I'll probably keep mine another week and see how it goes, but I'm realizing my $20 hydro-flask mug keeps lattes and tea hot for quite a while, and using the microwave when I forget about a drink isn't a big deal for me.

The Ultimate Mug
This thing as spoiled me. I can never go back to a regular mug. No more burnt tounge. Let's me know when my drink is at the perfect temperature. It also says hot for long period of time when it's on the charging dock. I ended up buying another one for my work office and one to keep at home. A few tips: use a wooden spoon to prevent damaging the ceramic coating. Increasing the temp on the mug drains the battery faster if you plan on taking it off the charging station. This mug is not a travel mug; keep it close to the dock to keep your drink hot. Cons: Very pricey

Greatly Improved Performance
The 14 oz model and software are a great improvement on the 9 oz model I purchased earlier this year. The LED indicator now works properly by glowing white for heating, red for recharging and green for recharged. It's easy to turn off the heater and to turn it on. An audible click accompanies a successfully entered on-screen button command. The software will notify you when your desired temperature has been reached, when the cup is empty and when it needs to be recharged. Mine also automatically sent out the notifications to my iWatch. There are some minor annoyances - you may be asked to reconnect your phone to the mug after several hours of non-use and occasionally the software balked at a button click to turn the heater back on. I haven't measured the battery charge duration but even when I've moved the mug away from its charging saucer, the charge has kept the coffee warm enough to drink most of it without a return to the saucer. Once you've activated the ON button under the the bottom of the cup there is no further need to use it. The software can control everything.

Not what I expected. I was very disappointed to get my “mug” and discover it had no handle on it. The picture clearly shows a handle as you would expect on a mug.
