Nope. Not even close. Mine had so many chips out of the edge that the thick wire edge left on from the factory grind is irrelevant. It’ll need a complete regrind to deal with the chips, and looking even more closely it would appear that there are plenty of pockets of soft steel (or something else) in the metal meaning that this edge is NEVER going to be sharp or durable. No ability to retain an edge once it’s put on makes this thing completely useless.

I looked over the blade and handles and did not see a country of origin. Reviewed the weblink on Amazon and did not see it stated...Only one other question listed this as coming from China...but I can not verify this. The knife does work well and is worth the investment...just be sure to get some safety equipment and watch a few videos on how to use it. Be safe and enjoy :)
