Installed to 48vdc electric golf cart for optional 12vdc accessories.
Repairing electric golf cart for customer who indicated they want to run 12vdc party lights on cart. This dc/dc converter was the perfect choice for establishing 12vdc current from the carts 48vdc system. However I discovered during install when hooked directly to cart batteries, with main and tow switches turned off, that this unit is still drawing current which would've killed the carts batteries in short period of time. I've since ordered and will install a 48vdc/40amp automotive relay to use trigger power from tow switch to activate mechanical contact which will then complete the circuit and turn on/off this dc/dc convertor. As the tow switch must be turned on to operate the main key switch, it just makes sense to use this as the source power to trigger the relay. These golf carts already have a 20amp dc/dc converter from the factory to power the headlights and taillights but not much more. The additional 30amp dc/dc converter I'm adding will allow the customer to add extra 12vdc accessories of their choosing without interfering with the carts OEM system.

Awesome buck converter, smooth, constant output, built STRONG.
I'm using this buck converter to step the 48V from my Ryobi electric lawnmower down to 24V to power the two large, electric, wheelchair motors that I installed on it so I can drive it using Radio Remote Controls. I'm also powering several other auxiliary items like an LED strobe light that I use to alert people to the fact that it's an RC powered vehicle, and not just an electric mower that has gone out of control! Lol. It's also powering a loud piezzo horn, to use when backing up, I'm powering a camera and transmitter system that Im using to drive the mower with First Person Video Goggles, as well as the Arduino (with an additional, much smaller adjustable buck converter, stepping it down to 7V) as well as the RC receiver, etc. I chose this buck converter because it's output is pre-set, and it's got a solid aluminum case, and the guts are all "potted" into the bottom, using a waterproof, rubbery, silicone-type of epoxy, so it feels like it'll withstand any wetness/moisture from wet grass clippings, etc, and the aluminum case provides the cooling needed to prevent it from overheating and burning out. I can run the mower non-stop for an hour, in the HOT summer afternoon sun, and the buck converter is barely warm to the touch! I measured how much I'm drawing from the buck, and at times (when both motors are full speed, driving UP hill, so they have a significant amount of load on each of the motors) and I'm drawing approx 70-80% of the rated max load listed on the buck converter...and on flat ground, moving at a normal mowing pace I'm only drawing about 30-40% of max.. so the fact that it's only slightly warm to the touch (maybe 85-90 degrees F) after an hour of work, makes me confident that it's the right size and the rating listed on it is actually honest. Would buy again for other projects!

Works great. Output is a little low at 12.2 vdc
I used this product to share the load of all the accessories on my golf cart with all six batteries instead of draining only two like the manufacture set it up. Hopefully, should help the batteries last longer. I dropped it one star because the output could be a little higher. A typical 12 volt battery has an output of 13+ volts when fully charged. Where as the output from this transformer is only 12.2 volts. I hope this is not a problem when I drain the batteries by driving my golf cart on a long trip. I have not had the opportunity to test it yet. I will update if it becomes a problem.

Idle current
When I was searching for a 48V to 12V converter, I would have liked to know the idle current drawn by the product under no load conditions. Unfortunately, this spec is missing not only with this product but also with all of the competitor products I looked at. Since the spec is missing, I see that several people are going to the trouble of installing an external relay to completely disconnect the unit when not in use. So, to help others coming after me, here are the numbers. I measure 13.5 mA of current drawn from a 48 volt battery under zero load conditions. With a lithium 100Ah battery in my golf cart, that means that the converter would fully discharge the battery after 7400 hours. That's 308 days, so since I'm not planning to put my vehicle in long term storage, I won't be spending the time and money on an external disconnect relay.

Great Product but needs a Relay switch to make everything work correctly
I used this for my ezgo electric golf cart so now all my accessories are drawing from all batteries. But still drains batteries even without using accessories so I added a Relay Switch to prevent the draining of the batteries so now when I turn the key on all accessories will then work.

Does what it’s supposed to
Easy to install. The value is perfect. Functional with good build quality. The lights installed on my golf cart work perfect and are bright with no issues.

Works great. My inverter for my 16S lithium battery pack didn’t come with 12V outlet. This solved the problem!
