PILOT Vball Liquid Ink Rolling Ball Stick Pens, Extra Fine Point, Black Ink, 12-Pack (35200)

This is the only pen I will use. I have been using this pen for nearly ten years. I find the design to be much better than other fine point pens, as it is simple and effective. The ink flow is exceptionally smooth; it does not blob or skip in mid-stroke. Unlike most pens in its class, it does not have the unwieldy rubber grip, which for me does nothing except make the pen barrel too large and uncomfortable. Additionally, it is made from a single piece of plastic that is clear, allowing the user to see his or her ink level. Unfortunately, the folks at Pilot seem to disagree with me, as they appear to no longer make this pen as it was. They have moved on to a larger barreled, silver painted version with the aforementioned rubber grip. The paint chips off easily and gets all over everything. Contrary to some reports, I've never had this pen leak during my decade of using it, even during a number of plane trips. Perhaps I was just lucky. Overall, I would recommend this pen for its simplicity, utility, durability, and excellent writing characteristics.

I've been a professional writer for 26 years, and for my money, this is the best pen I've ever used. Skip free and so extremely fluid, it's more like writing with a brush than a pen. And from a design perspective, the V Ball is simple, attractive, functional and very comfortable - a solid performer. Show me any Waterman or Mont Blanc that even comes close, and I'll buy it. But in the interim, at less than two bucks a pop, the Pilot V Ball sets the gold standard for everything a great pen should be. UPDATE: A tragic single flaw. Apparently these pens must be pressurized (probably explains why they flow so smoothly). As a result, DO NOT TAKE THESE ON AN AIRPLANE. Again, just speculating, but it seems that they most blow a seal . . . resulting in a leaky mess that's tough to impossible to clean. White shirts and frilly blouses - be afraid. Be very afraid. ;-) Despite that - I stand by every letter in my first two paragraphs. Absolutely fabulous pens.

And that period will show up with a single tap of the pen. Go ahead, get out a ball point pen and try making a period as a dot, not as a tiny line. Just stick the ball point to the page and lift off. Sometimes you get nothing, sometimes you get that little half ring looking shape from the ink residue left over from the previous stroke. With this pen, you get a period. A little perfect dot of ink (see video, the noise is my fish tank). This is the best pen you will ever use. Once you start writing with it, you won't want to put it down. I started using this pen in high school, and never looked back for over 10 years. (There was a time I thought they discontinued it because they stopped selling it in stores, and I literally was never happy writing. I only tolerated pens until I found this one online again). The quality of strokes from the pen is beyond compare. There is no skipping, there is no little dead spot at the beginning of a stroke like you get with other ball points (BiC is bad about this). The ink is even from the moment the pen touches paper to the moment it lifts off. You can even get incredibly thin lines. I have tried to make it skip by just letting the pen hang from my hand and applying no extra pressure (outside of gravity) to the page and drug it across the paper. Worked just fine, a continuous line (see video). Another quality is the ink is DARK. Its not the light grey some companies are calling black (Zebra). I use this at home and at work, and its the only one I use. Its the only one you should use too.

I absolutely love these pens! As a lefty, I've always had trouble finding a pen that didn't run or that actually works. Maybe it's me, maybe it's the pens. I have no idea but I've never had a single issue with these pens. They write beautifully and last a long time. I really love that it's ink. It seems like everything is gel now and they just never work for me. The ink in this pen is consistent and works in any weather. With other pens, I've had trouble on cold morning but no trouble here. I use them at home and at work all the time, everyone knows my work because of my purple pen. I'll be buying them forever!

Perfect. Great weight and balance. The right color purple. Smooth writing. Never sticks from the ballpoint drying as you write. Durable. Never had a leak or ink bleed. Lasts a LONG time. Perfect pen for me.

Pens are a little pricey but I work for an engineering company and the engineers love to use these on their drawings. Don't tend to bleed through, write nice & smooth. Comfortable to hold for long periods of time.
