SNOPPA ATOM 3 Axis Folding Stabilizer for Smartphone

I spent quite a bit of time researching the market, reading reviews, etc. on various gimbals for use with my iPhone. I was particularly keen on portability – as they say, the best tool you have is the one you have with you – and for that reason the Snoppa Atom seemed ideal. I liked the idea that you could lock all the arms in place and the offset arm that holds the phone seemed like an elegant solution. The wireless charging looked like a plus too. I took it on a short holiday to try it out properly and unfortunately I don’t think it quite lives up to what it promises. Which is a shame – I really wanted it to be good. One issue is that the rubber clamp that holds the phone simply isn’t big enough to grip it securely. Even with a very thin case on my phone, it could barely hold onto it. They show ‘bare’ phones in all the videos of the unit but in this day and age, who doesn’t use a case to protect a £1000 phone! As a result, I was constantly scared that the phone would fall out – and that restricted how I used the gimbal. Also the locking arms are great for securing the gimbal for transport – but actually get in the way of using it. I couldn’t count the number of times I set the phone up ready to shoot some footage only to realise that the gimbal wasn’t ready because one of the arms had re-locked itself. I could live with the above and a few other little quirks. What broke the deal for me however was the gimbal regularly would start to drift horizontally in use. I’d seen this mentioned in a couple of reviews but figured that they would have fixed this in the firmware by the time I used it. Not so. It had to be recalibrated at least daily – sometimes every single time I used it. I’m primary a holiday snapper – and will usually have family in tow – so stopping to look for a flat surface to recalibrate my latest gadget every time we stopped somewhere went down like a lead balloon. Even then, some of the footage I took I realised was at an angle after the event – but too late by then. Ok, great ideas, ticks a lot of boxes, but just not keen on way you need to hold it to the side for dolly shots and the tilt angle is not great. I would be keen to see what they do next, but this is a miss for me.

Ho provato diversi gimbal prima di incappare in questo. Devo dire che è molto stabile e l'app è ricca di funzioni, a patto di avere un Iphone o un Android compatibile. A me ad esempio dà la possibilità di registrare anche in 4k 30fps (ho uno xiaomi mi 9). Preferisco comunque usare l'app nativa della fotocamera, a meno di particolari necessità come timelapse o tracking. Purtroppo questo snoppa ha anche molti difetti, principalmente software, tra cui: - Perde spesso la calibrazione, soprattutto accendendolo e spegnendolo spesso. Mi sono accorto che appoggiandolo in piano quando lo accendo, questo succede meno di frequente. In ogni caso la calibrazione è questione di qualche secondo. - Molte funzioni dell'app non funzionano sempre, ma è necessario riavviare spesso l'app stessa per farle funzionare. In ogni caso, tra i gimbal che ho provato (non ho provato il dji osmo 3), è quello che offre il miglior rapporto stabilità/funzioni. Ve lo consiglio se siete coscienti del fatto che, finchè non risolveranno i bug, c'è sempre da fare qualche prova prima di registrare. Le funzioni come tasti personalizzabili o rotazione di 360° ripagano di questi difetti.

An sich gut gemacht, aber zwei funktionelle Nachteile gibt es zu bemängeln, die für mich wesentlich sind: - die angegebenen 300g lassen sich nicht zuverlässig bewältigen (z.B. iPhone X 5,8" mit Lenscase/Objektiv und Mikrofon, ca. 280g), das Gimbal verliert den Halt - besagtes Mikrofon (Røde VideoMic Me-L) kommt sich mit der Gimbalmechanik ins Gehege, man kann dies ein wenig umgehen, indem man den (das?) Gimbal etwas schräg hält, was aber auf Dauer anstrengt, da man eine unnatürliche Handhaltung einnehmen muss - dies ist bei so ziemlich allen mir bekannten Smartphone-Gimbals ein Problem, allerdings hatte ich mir bei diesem hier aufgrund des Designs erhofft, dass es gehen würde. Abhilfe würde ein analoges Mikrofon mit Lightning-Adapter bringen, was aber auch nicht besonders professionell wäre. Positiv hervorzuheben sind die App-Integration und die Batterielaufzeit, allerdings funktioniert auch das Qi-laden nicht zuverlässig.

Partant d'une bonne idée, c'est à dire rendre plus compact un gimbal pour smartphone tout permettant de filmer recto verso, ce gimbal à foiré l'essentiel alors qu'il avait tout pour réussir ! Beaucoup ne connaissent pas snoppa. Moi j'ai un gimbal pour gopro 4 qui marche super bien de chez eux. Je le met au bout d'une perche de 5m et je le commande du bas en WiFi, motorisation exclue... Du coup je me disais que celui là serait top ! Alors je vais aller droit au but sur les avantages : -Gimbal qui se replié facilement et plutôt compact. -moteurs solides et rotation 360 à l'infini. -fonctions essentielles présentes et boutons nombreux -application qui marche du premier coup côté appareillage et très rapide par la suite. -conception novatrice. Voilà on s'arrête là, et maintenant on va parler des moins qui ruinent le tout: -enregistrement foireux qui gère même pas le 60fps et qui ruine le son même avec un micro externe. -pas de stream Facebook ou YouTube avec le tracking de l'appli. -perte systématique des repères du gimbal en 60s chrono. Inutilisable.... Mécanique finalement peu pratique qui fait que le téléphone n'a pas une amplitude énorme de mouvement. Bref ceci ruine totalement son utilisation. Je l'ai renvoyé du fait de sa nullité. Je l'ai pourtant testé 2 jours en condition sans succès. Dommage ça annonçait que du bon.

Il prodotto è risultato di buona fattura ma presenta un problema di drift che ruota il telefono rispetto all asse rendendo lo stabilizzatore inutilizzabile. Magari un giorno riusciranno a risolvere via firmware.

Davvero leggero, tascabile e funziona benissimo sia nella parte hardware che software. Sempre pronto per l’uso non necessita di calibrazione. Ci metti su lo smartphone senza smanettare e inizi le tue belle riprese. Il face tracking va che è una bellezza. Consigliato.
