Not as polished as books from this era
The book is extremely basic in it's production value. It looks like it was edited by grandpa in Word 97 exclusively and delivered as quick as possible. There is no feel of ZX Spectrum about it (except the coding, maybe). Nowhere does it use the titular font, bright primary colors or (crappy) GFX. There isn't even a single screenshot about what to expect when you're done typing that multi page wall of BASIC code. Even the cover is absolutely generic and uninspired. I'm not gonna comment on the games or the code because I didn't started it yet and I don't know if I ever will because the the book is presented as "learning to code BASIC by example and extension". Never in a million years could I ever convince my kid to pick up this book when on the same shelf he has *brilliantly* edited and printed books for beginners in python, scratch & co. And those costed me about the same or even less. I simply cannot fathom why this books costs anything above... zero really. This should absolutely be a free gift book that you get when you buy one of those fancy glossy books about ZX Spectrum history or games compendiums. This simply feels like retro nostalgia cash-and-grab.

Kindle version is unusable
First off, in regards to the book and its content, it looks good. I have seen multiple reviews of this book saying the BASIC program has errors, but I can't confirm that because the Kindle version is clearly an automatic translation from text to Kindle .azw format. The BASIC listings don't even have a fixed-space font, which makes trying to read the programs impossible, especially when you are expected to count spaces. I couldn't get past the first listing because I couldn't get the programs to work, and I couldn't tell if it was due to bugs I have written because the font wasn't fixed-space, or if the listing itself was wrong. I had to return the book because it was more frustrating and a bother than its worth. If the author fixes the Kindle book format and the listings, I'll consider repurchase, but until then, stay away from the Kindle version!!

This book is great. If you was around during the 8-bit computing era, either as a kid or an adult you will remember type - in programs. These were printed in monthly magazines and we're fun to enter on rainy, winter days. Now thanks to ZX Spectrum Games Code Book you can experience that feeling again. This book is written clearly with good explanation of the code and features 20 games for you to type in and play on either a emulator or real ZX Spectrum. Recommended reading!!

Great for those who want to relive their ZX spectrum nostalgia using an emulator (or an actual speccy).

I love this book! (Please read in an old man voice) It takes me back to typing in game code from magazines and books in the 1980s. All that's missing is the computer to crash before you have chance to save! (emulators are way more stable than the original machines, aren't they?!) Well written, well explained and great fun for any retro-head! (Is it still retro if you were there the first time? Or just .. old?)
