I already run a Tenda AC1200, that I hang off of my FiOS modem because it has better security, firewall and performance than what Verizon gives you. Recently, my company set our IP phones (Cisco 3945) with a VPN so we could use them at home. My ISP hardware is downstairs and my Home Office is upstairs. In lieu of trying to run ethernet upstairs to my phone, I bought this Tenda Extender. I had good luck with the router, so why not buy the companion product?Setting it up was fairly simple via the web UI. The only snag I ran into is that I keep my SSID's hidden, and there is no option in the Quick Start to add/extend a hidden WiFi link. There is probably a way to do that from the main settings page, but I didn't look for it. So, I unhid my WiFi from the router, extended my WiFi, tested it, and then through both the router and extender and hid the SSID's. The wired conenction, together with a POE injector works flawlessly and my Cisco phone is working fine.There are a lot of customizations available on the router and duplicated on the extender. If you're looking for something specific, download the manuals. That's what I did.

I think this is the 3rd WiFi Extender that I've purchased over the past couple of years and this one is hands down the best ever! I had very mixed results with the other two. This is super easy to set-up and although I just started using it, it seems to do all that is promised really well. My signal is boosted and coverage extended throughout the house and well beyond. It took me about 10 minutes to set it up and connect my Android phone, laptop, Samsung Smart TV and my Kindle (and I'm no tech genius). Don't hesitate to buy this one.

Extra Wi-Fi signal

I ordered this as I wanted to extend the network at a location and make use of the lan port in the extender however when I tried to make this extender work it would not connect to the internet. The issue happened as the mesh network I had kept spitting out multiple network names and this extender got confused while connecting to internet however it kept stating that the network for extending successfully.Also when I accessed the extender admin page after extending the network, it was showing connected to the client in this case my phone however the signal with my router was showing brokenTo make it work - I had to pull my old router and create a new network name and the extender worked as expected, the speed however was not great as compared to TP link extender that I ordered on the same network and that is the reason I am returning this. Also to add that it was running a little hot although it has a lot of holes to let the air flow out.However for the price it is really good and does the job if you want to run something out of the lan port with minimum internet speeds and not really trying to connect to this extender on regular basis

I can clock 350mbps on my laptop which is in the same room as the extender by connecting to the actual router. I connect to the extender I can only get 60mbps. I mainly got this for my PC which is struggling to get any kind of speed and there was minor improvement there. I went from 20mbps to 75mbps. Still, not fast enough if my laptop can reach speeds as high as 350mbps in the same room.You get what you pay for I guess.__Update a year later: TRASH I wish i still got 60mbps speeds on this thing.. now it only clocks at 2mbps a year later! Go with something more expensive. This aint it

Worked fine for a few months and then just suddenly stopped working. I tried to figure out what went wrong but it just would not work no matter what I tried.

The headline says it all. When we first started up our internet in our house, the installer placed the router in the very back corner of the house where internet usage is negligible at best compared to the polar opposite end where every single internet-using device will be. While the overall reach of the signal on this wifi extender is pretty poor, as long as you are decently close to it, it will provide exactly what is advertised as well as no weird invasive privacy policy attached to this device like many other wifi extenders on Amazon.
