A flagship at a more reasonable price
This has been one of the best phones I have used for a long time. It has a large screen which is clear and bright, with the added advantage of high refresh rate capabilities. This does come at a price of higher battery consumption, but the default dynamic setting is great for giving a longer battery life where high refresh is not required. The screens rounded sides is a bit 'marmite' as many do not like these, but I prefer them - a bit love or hate though. In the box you do get a factory fitted screen protector and a clear gel case - so you can protect the phone from day one without spending any more. The fingerprint reader is in-screen at the bottom. For me it is well placed and works that fast, I hardly even get to press on the screen.Processor and memory capability is great as it comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 8GB ram. MIUI can also use up to 3GB of storage as ram extension when space is available - giving 11GB ram in normal use. The huge 256GB storage means the chances of running out of space is reduced too.SIM card wise, you get a dual SIM slot with the cards fitting back-to-back - no eSIM here. The phone works well with a single card in either slot too.Software wise, MIUI is a good Android based operating system. The current MIUI 13 is based on Android 12 and Xiaomi have said they will provide OS updates until MIUI15 and at least 4 years of OS security updates. Experience shows the security updates come at intervals between 1-3 months. This is a shame as flagship devices should really come with monthly updates. Many of the default apps are Google versions (dialer, messages, browser & pay/wallet) and there are a few MI specific versions.I have had a couple of applications that didn't work properly when first installed (pushed from my old phone using the device transfer capability). Removing and reinstalling has fixed these so I suspect there was a problem during the device transfer.A very nice capability is dual app - this allows you to be logged into an app with two accounts when ordinarily the app does not allow it. You can also have a 'second space' which gives a semi-hidden second instance of MIUI - great if you need to hide something from the primary space, although I found this did cause some lag in the phone when I tried it (don't need it but wanted to see what it was all about).Camera quality for me has been great. I have been able to take photos from portraits up to wide landscapes. It doesn't have a lot of the image processing of Google but for my needs, it is more than good enough to replace a dedicated camera most of the time.I have one issue with the camera app though - when it sees a QR code you get a little symbol to read it. When it is a link, it doesn't always work as planned - sometimes it is a web link that must be copied (my energy supplier uses one for setting up one of the devices they give and that uses a weblink that their app opens but it doesn't work with the Xiaomi camera app).Overall, I recommend this phone for anyone looking for a decent flagship phone without the four-figure price tag. It is a fully rounded flagship phone with long support and a decent OS.

Very similar to my previous Xiaomi.
I really like the Xiaomi phones I've had so far and found them to be great value for money. Cheaper than the more popular brands but better in my opinion. And whilst I do love this phone, I find it to be practically the same to my previous Xiaomi 9 phone. Differences feel only aesthetic. Battery life isn't the best and I find I need to charge my phone daily. Sometimes twice. And I expected more due to the cost being higher than I usually pay for a Xiaomi phone. I probably prefer the Xiaomi 9 that was half the price which I've had for years.

A nice phone ruined by Xiaomi MIUI O/S
So many useful Android feature missing and the new MIUI v14 which downloaded a few days after unboxing the handset looks like it's been designed by and for an 8 year old.

Perfect in so many ways....but not all
Superb screen, fast processor and excellent lens and detailed photos. Bought this in July 2022. One year on and so many features make this such an enjoyable phone to use. The downside is that I have already got screen burn, the phone overheats and consequently closes a number of functions down, and connection to my phone network can be intermittent. Such a pity as in so many ways this could have been my best ever phone.

2 phones in a row DOA
Had ordered the first, came dead on arrival so started a return and ordered a replacement next day. This also came DOA too. Both phones would not turn on and did absolutely nothing when charger connected.2 phones ordered a day apart and both DOA is unacceptable.
