It's a good kit for prototyping which is what I bought it for. Most of my designs end up being surface mount PCBs but it's a little hard to prototype and test with surface mount components. Lately I found myself spending too much time digging through parts draws and junk boxes when bread boarding circuits to test. I think this kit is going to put a stop to all of that. It's has pretty much all your common components in one place which is how I intent to try and keep it.The product description says the outer case is for shipping only but it seems decent enough to keep everything together on the shelf. All the smaller cases inside are about what you would expect and will keep everything organized well enough. The resistors kit is large but as bad as anybodies in that it is just a bunch of cut reel strips that invariably get tangled together. So the search continues for a good thru-hole resistor storage solution. The parts themself look like they are decent quality as does the entire kit.There are quite few parts I know I'll never use but they are there on the off chance I need one. The prototype boards are nice to have as it seems I never have enough and an extra pair of nippers is always welcome.It's a bit pricey for my needs since I already have much of this but to fill the gaps in my inventory and bring everything together in one place will make it worth it in the time it saves in the long run. If you are just starting out it's a pretty complete kit of common parts and a good start for any bench.

Got tired of ordering small electronic components and waiting. This has a huge assortment of common components used and even some not so common components. The wait is over! Haven't used much of the components and tested them but I am sure they are fine. If not, I'll update this thread.

A wide range of components and all seem to work as designed. The only issue I have is going to download the datasheet I've been greeted with more than one "Obsolete - This product is no longer manufactured. View Substitutes or Alternative Package Types". They still work so no real worries. I'm guessing that using obsolete parts helps keep the price down. For the money, this was a good all-around assortment of components. No regrets.

This set was a little pricey. I think it's gone up a little since I bought it at $139. However the cost for me is totally worth the frustration and patience of trying to assemble such a thorough set of components. Probably would have been more expensive as well to gather such a substantial list separately. Outer box hinge broke but whatever. Nothing fell out as the entire big box is taped up in bubble wrap. All pieces inside are meticulously arranged and labeled in their own boxes. Super pleased with this purchase. I'm set up for a good while. Awesome gift for the electronics tinkerer.

This has a great selection of components. However there are two things that I think could be improved.One is the switches. They work however there is no rating information on them, which would be helpful but isn't the biggest deal.The other is the resistors. They all come in a single box and once you take them out, they barely fit back in, and aren't in any particular order. This makes it difficult at times to find the exact ones I need and sometimes have had to go through every single one to find a particular value.The values are printed on the tape but some of them are not well printed or are cut off. It would be nice if they were put into bags. I understand that you probably couldn't do a bag for each individual value but if they were at least grouped by Ohm, KOhm, MOhm, even that would save me some time and frustration.

I'm starting a new hobby and this kit was perfect as a starting point. Whoever gathered the inventory list did a great job picking the parts and the quantities that you need to start out. Everything is high quality from reputable suppliers.I was lucky that the shipping case was undamaged in shipping. I can see how it would get broken during shipping since it's light duty and the total shipping weight is high for the for such a light case. Most people would move the component packaging into plastic tool box or fishing tackle box for storage. That 's what I plan to do.
