- WHAT IS SOAPSTONE - It is one of the earliest known stones. Its name stays true to its remarkable physical qualities: smooth, soft, and soapy. Each stone has a beautiful surprise color and finish, revealed only once you've polished the finished carving.
- HOW TO USE - Use the rasp tool to shave off larger parts of the soapstone until you are happy with the overall shape of the animal. Remove all file marks by using the coarse grit sandpaper dipped in water. Rinse the carving with water and use the finer grit sandpaper to put a beautiful soft finish on your carving. Once completed, finish your piece with mineral oil, baby oil or beeswax to bring out the beautiful color of the stone. Time 2 - 5 hours of fun.
