Brown Manucca raisins owe their name to the Manuka myrtle . Bees make the fabled Manucca honey from its blossoms. What do Manucca raisins and Manucca honey have in common? Their honey golden, brown colour, plus a fantastic, unique taste. Our Fairtrade brown Manucca raisins are very large brown raisins containing 1-2 pips each. The fruit is soft, made slightly crunchy by the pips. Their taste is intensely sweet and fruity, made slightly tangy by the pip. Origin and Production: We source our Fairtrade raisins exclusively from Uzbekistan. Large parts of the region are certified for and FAIRTRADE products, and are cultivated by the FAIRTRADE farmers living there. The farmers are part of a large Fairtrade community made up of 3 groups, Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba and Turob Bobo. 1,000 farmers and their families belong to the community. By working with Fairtrade, the farmers can provide their families with a secure income and offer their children new rtunities. After harvesting, the raisins are washed and then gently dried using solar energy. The drying process is very eco-friendly, using a solar drying method that has a minimal impact on the product.
