Into the 1950s, smoking was still a popular pastime in many parts of the world. Egyptians were among the most avid smokers at this time, with estimates saying that around 20 percent of Egyptians smoked. The world's first cigarette factory was founded by an Egyptian businessman named Ahmed Zulfikar in 1885. He named his company "Zulfiks" and created the first Egyptian cigarette, which was made of tobacco leaves, sugar cane juice, water, and fruit extracts. Zulfiks began to sell their cigarettes throughout Cairo and then exported them all over the world. The brand name “Zulfiks” became synonymous with cigarettes in Egypt. In 1954, Ahmed Zulfiks' son-in-law, Ahmed Naguib, and his cousin Salah Salem decided that they would branch out on their own to create a new company that had its own identity. They started off by selling a few types of cigarettes under their new company's name. They eventually created a brand called Ice Drops because of their innovative ideas and quality tobaccos. One of their most recent creations is a hookah called "The Ice Drop". This hookah has a hand painted design that resembles an ice cube as well as a glass base that is easy to clean and able to hold up to 200 grams of shisha tobacco.
