Can the stand be removed?** A: Hi, you mean placing side ways like a center channel ? The answer is no. You'll have to look for the center channel speaker which is tilted already side ways.And no the stand cannot be removed, since the speaker is little heavy so it needs a stand to support its weight but you can adjust the angle of the speaker little left or rite.Hope this helps. **Q: Are these compatible with standard subwoofers (by example, polk audio psw10)? if so, what kind of wires would i need? i intend to use as pc speakers.** A: The KEF speakers are passive and will need an amplifier to work. The subwoofers are universal and will work with most systems. To use with the pc you will need an amplifier or ideally an AV receiver to make them work. This would not be an ideal setup. If the only source is the PC you are better off looking for a set of PC speakers as a set with included subwoofer as a package. There are a lot of nice packages out there. There are some Logitech G series systems that are very good. If you are looking for something more powerful you can look for active studio monitors. Active would mean they have a built in amplifier. The Uni-Q design may be partially to credit as back then almost all of the speakers looked similar, black boxes of various sizes and prices. My father allowed me to choose within our price range and it was hands down the KEF speakers with Uni-Q. I think we listened to about a dozen competitors before choosing. None provided the true to life sound of the KEFs. It has been over twenty years now and Mom has handed them down to me still in near mint condition. I have married the love of my life and built a home that includes a dedicated media room. I purchased these speakers as wall mounted rears. I am extremely pleased with the overall experience when listening to music or watching a film.
