Review: Great Juicer at any price! - I just received the Cuisinart CJE-1000 juicer about two days ago but had to go out and buy some fresh veggies to juice before I could try it out. Today, I'm happy to say that it works like a dream ... not like the refurbished (same brand and model) one I received last week from another store. On that one, #5 on the speed dial didn't work, the pulp ended up backing up and not going into the pulp bin, and the motor made a funny noise when turning off; on further inspection, some of the parts looked a little beat up, too. Still, it was pretty quiet when juicing, but I knew I had to return it. So, I immediately went online and bought a brand new Cuisinart from desertcart (what I should have done in the first place). lol I'm so glad I moved as quickly as I did. It didn't take me too long to finally realized that I didn't need to start off with refurbished ... what was someone elses juicing nightmare/headache and end up going down hill from there and having to return the juicer multiple times for repair (and be without fresh juice). The only good thing I got out of buying the refurbished juicer for less money was that it showed me what a great juicer the Cuisinart could be (if everything worked correctly, that is) ... was totally sold on the potential! The multiple speeds, large juice pitcher, and extremely quiet motor (except when turning off) helped to sway me. This new Cuisinart is very quiet, too (unheard of, I know), and the pulp is pretty dry when not juicing something like tomatoes (just had to try that), but I can use my NutriBullet for things like that and not end up losing part of them to pulp. As the Nutribullet is also very powerful and liquifies quite well (except for things like beets and carrots, etc), I'll probably, sometimes, end up liquifying things like tomatoes, kale, spinach, and softer fruits in the Nutribullet so I can get the benefit of the whole veggie/fruit. At any rate, I love being able to change the speed on the Cuisinart to fit what I'm juicing. Cleanup is fairly easy with the Cuinsinart, too. I've seen much worse, in particular the old Hamilton Beach juicer I used to have (talk about a nightmare!). It juiced great, but cleanup was very time consuming and difficult. Also, I love size of the Cuisinart juice pitcher and the 3" feed tube but find that for small, hard beets it's still better to cut them in thirds or quarters, but I can feed 3-5 carrots at a time without a problem. I also juiced half a lemon with the peel on. I'm going to start looking for receipes where I can use the pulp from this machine ... maybe some veggie soup and bread ideas. Since I'm vegetarian anyway, I don't care much for the idea of tossing perfectly good pulp/peels with their additional fiber and nutrients ... not very often anyway. lol I'm just so glad I bought this juicer and hope it lasts for a lot of years. Just in case, I did buy the additional Square Trade 3-year warranty, as I believe it covers things the "limited" warranty doesn't cover. Also, with use, if I find this machine to be lacking in any way, i'll do an updated review ... or, even a review to just say how great it continues to be! Darn ... on rereading my review, it seems a bit biased, but, honestly, I'm just so excited about this juicer! It seems to have everything I wanted it in a juicer (doesn't have auto cleanup, tho ... now THAT would be nice. :) Happy juicing!
Review: Cuisinart Juice Extractor CJE-1000 - It is very good unit for juicing carrots, apples and similar harder veggies. We used it today (03/15/2016) for large amount of carrot juice (over one gallon, with breaks every liter and to empty pulp container) and it came out with minimum foam, good consistency and reasonably dry pulp. Position of the chute is good, no leaks, no splatter, no mess, regardless it is 1000 watts on highest speed. Unit’s cutting basket has very minimal vibrations which disappear more of less at normal speed and there is floating mechanism added to electric motor that works out the vibrations quite nicely. Well, after all it is a centrifugal juicer not a satellite guiding system, therefore little thing like this is expected and not bothersome. Locking mechanism on this juicer is very well designed, and base is actually made from magnesium like casting, which makes it bottom heavy and quite sturdy. The opening on top is large, so I would be very careful and never leave this unit unattended if one has little child of the kind that can get into trouble in split second.. Granted this is not a grinder, but I feel compelled to mention this - we all should know that little kids, active cell phones, laud TV’s and tired parents when all on can become potentially harmful combination. The noise level of this unit on high is about as loud as big blow-dryer on high. You will not need ear protection. Noise is not high-pitched or annoying. This is definite plus at least for me. Anyways, this is excellent juicer, and not just for the money. I was considering purchase of another 2 brands with similar specs but it either had only 2 speeds, or was much more money, and eventual parts availability from Cuisinart when needed appeared to be much more logical choice. You still need to cut stems of carrots, wash them and take time not to force them to hard yet they go in few at the time and juice comes out quickly, like water from the faucet. Apples should have seeds removed – not because this juicer will not take it but because ingredients in apple seeds. Lemons and oranges should be peeled unless one wants to consume all those antifungal sprays that are sprayed on many citrus prior to storage. Even DIY home grown organic peel with no chemicals will spoil the taste just because citrus oil in peels is too strong for consumption in quantities – this is why some supermarket citrus juices have this wonderful smell combined with some bitter aftertaste. Citrus oil is good to flavour cakes and treat pimples, but not for drinking. Celery will juice just fine, but for greens I use one of those slow juicers, the vertical version. The celery, raspberry, strawberry and things like kiwi come out better on slow juicers. It appears that “one size fits all” idea is only good for T-shirts, so considering one can get slow masticating juicers for much less then they used to cost there is no reason not to have one as well, so you can make nectar out of spinach and celery – it does taste weird but it is quite nutrition. The cleaning of this CJE-1000 is easy and fast as there are no nooks and hidden compartments like some juicers have. Shell of the units top is made of high impact ABS, it is very well made and fits perfectly. Cuisinart did excellent job in design how the parts fit – if it is not correctly assembled it will not start. Also, the motor has automatic thermal reset fuse, not like some major and expensive brand which I used to have and will never touch again for that very reason. One day you will overheat the juicer and I you do not have auto thermal reset, you will be shipping it for repairs. Not with this juicer. ThankYou Cuisinart !!!. Did I mention 5 speed? Yes, you may need it, maybe not all the time but it always nice thing to have more choices and practical controls. OK, time to go now, will drink more of that perfect juice, and then make carrot cake from some of the pulp, and the rest of pulp goes to the chickens and wild birds. I hope this juicer will last for some time, then if it quits one day I will most likely buy another, hoping that by that time Cuisinart is still making quality kitchen gadgets at affordable price. This one allows me to have quick, healthy, natural and nutritious juice. No high fructose corn syrup but I have to admit I keep the quart of the stuff under the sink – it is excellent added to water to keep x-mass trees fresher longer although I was always wondering how that works. LOL BTW, I purchased this juicer directly from desertcart warehouse – they had best price and I trust them most.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can i do leafy greens? spinach, watercress or kale?
Thanks everyone! Sounds like this is the machine for me :)**
A: Absolutely. Set speed to 3 for spinach, oranges (without peel), etc. Set speed to 5 for apples, carrots, pears, etc; this will allow the motor not only to run efficiently, but also last. The Cuisinart CJE has a motor rated @ 1000 watts, which is very powerful, however that doesn't warrant overloading it by pushing whole amounts of fruit through at once. I recommend slicing apples, pears, etc. in half at the very least, and your Cuisinart's 1000 watt motor will keep going. Use common sense, if motor bogs down due to large amount of whole apples. etc being forced down, then stop the machine, slice the fruit and put less in at a time. Do not force fruit and vegetables down, gently press down. When juicing greens such as spinach, to ensure that you are juicing it all without waste, put greens between apples or pears this will get optimum results. Best of luck with your Cuisinart CJE - 1000...I love mine. GOD Bless

**Q: Can you juice wheatgrass with this juicer?**
A: I have bought this juicer and it is wonderful. Very powerful....can do whole apples and oranges without even blinking. But I have read that to do wheatgrass you need a special juicer. A wheatgrass juicer is more like a slow press. It juices it very slowly to get all of the juice and not destroy the good stuff in it. A wheatgrass juicer juices at about 100RPMs whereas these power juices are at about 1000RPMs. It will miss half the juice, oxidize the good stuff in there and possible clog up the juicer. http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-You-Need-A-Special-Wheatgrass-Juicer-To-Extract-Juice-From-Wheat-Grass&id=515538

**Q: How easy is it to clean?**
A: Once taken apart it takes 5-6 minutes to hand wash all the parts in your sink. You can also rinse the parts and run them through the dishwasher, but I prefer to hand wash them. Once you have done it about 100 times it gets pretty easy.

**Q: Will this unit work with 220/240v power? i know that the plug is us based and would need an adapter. would i need a converter for use in peru?**
A: The plug is not three pronged, only works with 110V as far as I know.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Honest & Fair Review-READ!
*by A***N on March 25, 2012*

I was inspired to buy a juicer after watching the documentaries "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead", "Forks Over Knives", "Food Inc.", and "Food Matters". I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a Breville and this has many of the same features. The 1000 watt motor is powerful enough to easily juice just about everything. I've used it with apples, kale, carrots, spinach, strawberries, peaches, pears, blueberries, grapes, starfruit, cranberries, and pineapple just to name a few. I've used it twice a day for almost 3 weeks (at the time of this review) and have noticed good and bad... PROS: -Powerful 1000w motor comparable or better than any Breville at the same price range. -5 different settings to adjust for softer/harder fruits and veggies -Very Quiet -Anti-Froth pitcher works great CONS: -You have to clean the juicer immediately after you're done juicing (so I usually have to wait before I can even enjoy the juice I just made)The mesh screen can be a pain to clean. The included brush helps but you always have to get the teeth, the inside, the outside AND UNSCREW the teeth to get under the metal plate, then RESCREW it back together. -The big plastic lid has some areas that are hard to reach when cleaning, even when using a dish washer. -Pulp can be a little wet at times but I've noticed that it somewhat depends on what you're juicing (using more fruits is going to give you some wet pulp but a more veggie heavy juice isn't as wet) TIPS: -Always put an empty plastic bag (like the type you get from the grocery store) in the pulp catcher because it makes clean up so easy...lift the plastic bag out and throw it away (or use the pulp to make compost). The pulp catcher will never need more than maybe a rinse by using a plastic bag. -I usually have a glass ready with ice in it to pour my juice over. I personally think all juices taste better over ice. You could also throw the juice into a blender with some bananas, nuts, or whatever you like! Endless possibilities! (smoothies, etc...) RESPONSE TO COMPLAINTS: Some people on here complain about wet pulp or not enough juice but HELLO you're spending less than $150 on a juicer! If you want the top shelf then go spend the $300-$500 on higher end models!!! For what you're paying, THERE IS NO BETTER JUICER FOR UNDER $150! You get a lot for your money even with the minor flaws! I wouldn't go to a car dealership and expect to get a Cadillac or Mercedes Benz with all the bells and whistles if I only had $10,000!! If you want top shelf then go buy top shelf! Cuisinart was obviously going for something middle of the road that encompassed similar features to high end models but at a more affordable price (by using more plastic parts basically). Be sure to read the entire manual to make sure you're doing everything correct. I even make sure to juice everything on the proper 1-5 setting since not everything needs to be on 5. Overall this is a great juicer that has all the features and power of a Breville but at half the cost. I would highly reccommend this if you're new to juicing. If you're looking for more of a high end, everyday juicer, then go shell out double the cost of this and be happy instead of buying this and complaining that it's not what you expected!
