Canned a lot of fruit this spring and this appliance made it so much easier than than in the past. I live off grid and can save a lot of propane by using my sun energy from the solar rather than canning on the gas stove. But its got SO many more advantages than that. If boils your jars at the right temp, for the right amount of time, let's you know when they are ready to fill, aits for you to fill them keeping the,water at the proper temp, senses when the water around the filled jars is back up to temp before it starts timing the canning. You pre-set the temp and time before everything. Then you close it down, let it can and it does the rest, even a cool down period then let's you know to remove the jars. Takes a lot of keeping track and guess work out and you can just concentrate on all the prep instead.
