It was a long time since playing any sort of jumping sport and I have some decent hops but my timing and spacing were horrendous. The spacing was a huge issue when picking up volleyball again since I grew up playing basketball and had a habit of jumping directly under the ball and it made me always hit the ball out because of this. Ignore the terrible net violation but this spike trainer helped me to get more comfortable with max jumping and hitting the ball at the peak of my jump, and allowed me to generally find the right spacing for my takeoff and penultimate step. I wouldn't overly rely on this because it absolutely does nothing for timing the ball because not every set will look the same. Otherwise, this thing is very good quality, it stores away nicely and compactly, is easy to put together, and does the job well. The pool noodle does tear after a good number of uses so I used the athletic tape on the points of contact that hold ball and it worked perfectly fine.
